morning the teacher, Mr. Regan, gave a
lecture on "Botany" to user fifty pupils. i
Then all the pupils and teacher went to
work with rakes, hoes. &c., and thor-
oughly cleaned up the school yard. In
the afternoon • number of the larger
pupils, who had been attending during
the winter, came to their as•istsnce, and
fifty maple and ash trees were planted,
and also a hedge of cedars on each side
of the gravel walk leading front the gate
to the school home. The work urs com-
pleted at ii o'clock, and the pupils went
to their homes all very tired, but well
pleased with their hard day's labor.
