"Thoughts on Thanksgiv-
ing" was the theme of devotions
for the October meeting of the
Prussels U.C.W.. Mrs. Wm.
Miller opened her home to the
afternOon unit. There were 13
members and 6 visitors present
With 26 visitations and hospital
calls made.
Mrs. Thomas as convenor,
emphasized the iMportance of
giving thanks for out-multitude,
of blessings and gifts. She read
a short story "The Grateful
Heart" and offered Prayer. Miss
Skelton gave two selections en-
titled "Thanks" by J. C. Luther
and "Harvest Offering". The
Scripture, mil. 107, was read
by Mrs. Hemingway. A prayer
poem, "Thank You God" was
offered by Mrs. J. Smith.
All members were reminded
of the Regional Meeting in Brus-
sels United Church on Oct. 19
when Dr. Donald Watts will speak.
Two pounds of used stamps
have recently been sent to the
Leper Mission. Miss Skelton
spoke of the importance of the
project.
Miss Lucas used a tape re-
cording entitled "Love and Cour-
age" to present the study. As
members listened to the story
of a Christian family in Rhod-
esia they were asked to find an-
swers to these questions;
What is courage?
What does it mean to do the
brave thing?
Can we learn to forgive?
Can we learn to admit when
we are wrong?
Can we stand criticism?
What is true strength?
What is weakneSs?
The November, meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. De.
Vries.

The afternoon group of the
W.M.S. met at the home of Mrs.
Stanley Fischer with an at-
tendance of ten members. Mrs.
Wilfred Strickler opened- the
meeting with a reading "The
Secret" and "Come ye thankful
people, come" was sung. The.
Scripture reading was read res-
ponsively and Mrs. Clare'Veitch
led in prayer "Sing to the Lord
of Harvest" was sung, followed
by the business presided over
by Mrs. Earl Dunn. A verse
on "harvest" was given for roll
call. An executive meeting and
the Fall Sectional meeting in
Avonton. Presbyterian Church
were announced by the Secretary,
Mrs. Fischer. The Thanks-
giving. topic "Mrs. Osborne's
Awakening" was given by Miss
Alice J. Forrest. Mrs. Strick-
ler read, two articles "Sell Out"
and "The. Touch of the Master's
Hand". The meeting closed with
"The King of Love my Shep-
herd is". Mrs. John A. Perrie
and the hostes s served lunch.

chen Cuties" met at the Vietch
home. Wendy Smith read the.
minutes. Achievement Day is
set for November 11 at. Howicic
Central School. Mrs. Veitch,
discussed leBuffet Suppers" and
Nancy and Mary Ellen. Knight
made a chocolate fondue.
Mr, and Mrs. Doug Thiel
and family Kitchener, visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conley and
Doug.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill. Purdy,
Bobcaygeon, spent Thanksgiv-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Purdy.
Mr. and Mrs.GeraldHuether,
St. Catharines, visited Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn Huether.
Will Perrie, Toronto, and
Leslie Perrie, London, • spent
Thanksgiving weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. John A. Perrie.
The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to the family
of the late Melvin Becker who
passed away in Listowel Hos-
pital on October 3rd.
