Resources'Devel- opment, of which I am a ram, ber, Is currently investigating the resignation of a former Vice Chairman of the Workmen's Compensation Board. Mr. John CauleY told the COM- mittee on Wednesday that he agreed not 'to appear in public for six months after his forced retirement from the Board to substantiate that his retirement was for health reasons. Mr. Cauley said that was part of the deal worked out with Dalton Bales Labour Minister at the time, during the Spring of 1969, and now Attorney Gen- eral. Mr. Cauley was paid $62,000 between May 1969, and August 1971, which was after he had submitted his resignation on May 12th, 1969, and for which he did no work. He claimed this was the agreement he had worked out with Mr. Bales, and he was also entitled to accumulated sick leave credits and holidays which he hadn't taken during his 28 years with the Board. Even though the stated reason for quitting, given in his letter of resignation, wa§ ill health, W.M.S. Melville W.M.S. met in the church parlour Friday afternoon with Mrs. Gerald Gibson in charge. The devotional period was taken by Mrs. Orwell El- liott reading the scripture and Mrs. J. Martin who gave a med- itation based on part of a chap- ter of the book "I Believe in Miracles". Mrs. George Evans led in prayer. Mrs. George El- liott's Easter Message was taken from a radio sermon by Rev. Dr. weatherhead in which he gave proof of the truth of the resur- rection. He called Easter day the gladdest day of the year. Plans for the May meeting were discussed when the guest speaker will be Mrs. E. Harbot-.. tle of Listowel. Mrs. John Speir read a short history of the life of Miss Dorothy Bulmer, a mis- sionary in Nigeria. A native of Windsor, she went to Nigeria in .1959 and in 1969 returned to Canada on account of the unrest. She returned to resume her work in Nigeria in 1972. he PrOnoecl Workmen's Conr-r pensation Board records to show he had not missed a day in 1969.
