Vegetables Have Many Uses
The inventor of the On can
surely deserves the heartfelt
thanks of every huSy housewife,.
Thank4 clue to him, we can, have
at, hand every day of the week
the year round, vegetables that
might otherwise be difficult to
buy.
When buying canned vegeta-
blea, look for the grade name
on the label. This is their mark
of quality. There are three grades
available for most vegetables.
Canada Fancy vegetables are the
highest quality; they are sound,
clean, unblemished, of good color
and uniform size, and are packed
at perfect maturity. For dinners
with family or company, Canada
Fancy grade vegetables are the
perfect buy. Canada.Choice grade
vegetables are of good quality;
they are sound, clean and un-
blemished, but may vary slightly
in size, color and maturity. They
are a good buy for family meals.
Although Canada Standard grade
is the lowest grade, the veget-
ables are still of good quality
with fairly good flavor, color
and uniformity. They are an econ-
omical buy for casseroles and
creamed vegetable dishes. Look
for the “Canada" in the grade
name. This means the product
was grown or packed in Canada.
Canned vegetables can be used
in a multitude of ways. They can
be attractively garnished, del-
icately seasoned or skillfully
incorporated into a variety of
dishes. The three recipes pre-
sented by the home economists',
Canada Agriculture, Ottawa give
different quick ways of utilizing
a 19-ounce can of vegetables.
The "Zesty Pork Casserole"

TODAY'S CHILD
BY HELEN ALLEN
HE LIKES ANIMALS
Teddy is a handsome young fellow of four and a half, whose
very dark eyes and black hair deflect his Indian ancestry.
He is a healthy, active boy who enjoys any kind of vigorous
games. His pleasant personality means adults like his company.
Teddy is fond of children but until recently did not know how to
play with them without conflict. Now he is attending nursery
school and learning better how to socialize with his own age
group.
Teddy is felt to have great potential. A bright, alert
youngster, he quickly absorbs whatever he sees and hears and
he is eager for new experiences.
This 'addle is interested in farm animals with which he
readily makes friends. He is fascinated by mechanical things,
and likes to figure out how they work.
Teddy needs young energetic parents in a loving, stimulat-
ing home. It would be best if there were no children close
to his age in the family. To inquire about adopting Teddy
Please write to Today's Child, Box 888, Station K, Toronto.
