Germany. where they will spend
the nekt three years. Dr. Daley
will be going into research
scholarship Mr. and Mrs. James
Daley, his parents, of Blenheim,
were also present.

U.C.W. AFTERNOON
UNIT MEETING
The first fall meeting of the
Afternoon Unit of the ijruSsels
U,C.W. was held on September
7, at the home of Mrs. Norinan
Heover, with thirteen members
and four visitors present
The opening devotional period
was led by Mrs. C. Hemingway.
Mrs. Thomas conducted the bus
mess, 'consisting of minutes of
former meetings, roll call, financ-
ial reports, etc.
Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Letkrew
gave an excellent account of their
attendance at the Leaders'
School at Alma" College in, Aug-
ust; Mrs LeDrew describing the
daily happenings, and Mrs. Smith
reportingg 'messages from a spec-
ial speaker at the School, Nancy
Hardy, who has prepared the
missionary material on Africa,
this year's study. .
After the benediction, a dainty
lunch was served by the hostess,
assisted by Mrs. DeVries and Mrs.
Thomas.
The next meeting will be on
October 5, at the home of Mrs.
W. Turnbull.

Gartley entered her first year at
Guelph University. .
Miss Marion Ziegler, formerly-
of R.R. 2, Brussels, now of Goder-
ich, left September 20th, 1971, to
commence training for a Regist-
ered Nurses Assistant at the Free-
port Hospital, Kitchener.
Family Re-union
A family reunion Was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Cameron when the family and
descendants of the late Mr. and
Mts. Allan Cameron attended on
the long holiday weekend. Memb-
ers came front Detroit, Sarnia,
Tilbury, London and SeafOrth.

Heads of the. various Centen,
Ojai committees met recently and
reported on planning progress
date.

were appointed to approach the
Village Council seeking financal
support, which was received.
The next meeting is to be on
Moriday, Oct. 18th, with a meeting
every 2nd Monday of every month
therafter.
Anyone with constructive ideas
is invited to. attend the meetings.

C. J. Cardiff has resigned as
car license issuer. Glenn Smith
took over in that capacity en Mon-
day, September 13th.
Miss May Skelton is home from
a trip to Vancouver and Reston,
Man. Miss Margaret Skelton of
Reston returned with her.
Mr. arid Mrs. Allan Glasgow
and daughter of London, visited
with Me. and Mrs. Jaines Arin-
strong and family last weekend.
Miss Linda Elliott, who was re-
cently enroled in Victoria. School
of Nursing, London, spent the
weekend at home with her family.
Miss Ella Pearson is o paitent
in. Wingham Hospital.
Neil Hemingway enrolled this
week at the Centralia College of
Agricultural Technology. He will
be. in the Agricultural Business
Management course there.
Mr: and Mrs. Edwin. Martin
spent Sunday in Toronte with Mr.
and Mrs. John Tooth and Lorraine.
• Friends are sorry to learn. that
Donald Perrie has been a patient
in Listowel Memorial Hospital
Mrs. Edgar Hollinger and Mrs.
L. Schnell visited at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Perrie last
week.
Mrs. Dorothy Higgins and Tom
from Toronto visited over the
weekend with her mother, Mrs.
R. W. Stephens.
Mrs., W. Perrie and Rev. James
Perrie went to Wyoming last
week and attended the funeral of
Bruce Piggott of Petrolia.
'Dr. and Mrs, It. G. Stephens and
family from Halifax are in Brus;
sees for a few weeks before fly-
ing to New Zealand for a. six
months visit with grandparents
there.
Rev. James Perrie returned to
Strathroy last week miter a trip to
Newfoundland and the Maritimes.
-He was accompanied by Charles
Cardiff of 'Kitchener.

were guests at the lovely church
wedding in 'Guelph on Saturday
when Miss Mary Brennan became
the bride of Michael Donald Stiles.
Michael, a graduate of the Uni-
versity of Western Ontario is the
only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stiles
of Lambeth. Miss Joanne Stiles.

A summer wedding took ,Plaat
in the Brussels United Church al
4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.8, when
.Ruth Edna, daughter of Mr.. and
Mrs. Kenneth C. Wilbee, Ethel,
became the bride of Phillip Stuart
Paul, .Giielph, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald S. Paul of Napanee.
ftev. Eric LeDrew officiated at
the double ring ceremony. Large
white baskets of multi-colored
gladioli decorated the .church,
Ralph Paul, Napanee, brother
of the groom, played traditional
wedding music and accompanied
the soloist, Miss Karen Mc-
Spadden. Otterville. cousin of the
bride. who sang "0 Perfect Loved
and Whither Thou Goest".
The bride, given in marriage by
her father wore a gown of white
rosebud lace styled with high
neckline and puffed sleeves.
White ribbon fell from the empire
waist.. She carried a sheaf of pink
bridal roses. and had roses and
lily-of-the-valley plaited in her
ha ir.
Mrs. Howard Giles, Petrolia.
was her sister's matron, of honor
and Miss Carol •Wilbee, Walton,
cousin of the bride, • and Miss
Judith McDowell, Belgrave, were
bridesmaids.
The attendants wore dresses Of
pale mint green lace, empire
waisted with puffed sleeves and
ruffled neckline. 'Each carried a
boquet of white and. pink carna
tions and wore similar floaters in
their hair.
Richard Galagher of Kiehener
was best man and the guests were
ushered by Ronald Paul, Napanee,
brother of the groom. and Brube
Wilbee, Ethel, the bride's brother.
Following .. the —ceremony. din-
ner was served in the church par-
lour. The bride's 'mother received
the guests in a gown of American
beauty rose chiffon assisted by
the grooni"s mother hi a three
the groom's mother in a three
piece suit of. yellow, and brown.
Following the dinner the guests
were invited to 'the bride's home
and later to dancing at the List-
owel Legion auditorium.
For travelling to Cape Cod and
other points in the United State,:
the bride changed to a black and
white crepe dress with matching
accessories and pink and rose cor-
sage.
Guests attended from Windsor,
Otterville, Burlington, Petrolia,
Kitchener, Toronto and Bois-
vain, Manitoba.
Both bride and groom attend
the University of :Guelph. On
their return they will reside at 109
Waterloo Ave. Guelph.
Prior to the wedding the bride
was showered at Guelph by una
versify friends and at the home of
Miss Carol Wilbee, Walton, when
a 'large number of friends and
relatives gathered to offer gifts
and good wishes.

The September meeting of the
Majestic W. 1„ convened by Mrs.
Earl Cudmore,. was held in the
library on ' Thursday evening,
September 9th at 8 p.m.. After
welcoming the members and
guests, Mrs. Leona Armstrong,
president, conducted the business

the secretary, Mrs. Marie Mc-
Cutcheon. The Huron CouultY
Rally is to be held in Ethel on
October 4th, anyone wishing to go
contact either the president or
the secretary of the Majestic W.I.
The 'Guelph area convention is to
be held in Guelph on October 26
and 27. A card of thanks from
Mrs. Alberta Smith for cards and
a box was read.
The Sr, Leaders training school
for the "Knack of Sewing with
Knits" is to held in the Wesley
Willis United Chrch, Clinton', on
October 6 and 7th. Nothing defin-
ite was done in regard to this. A
newletter from the Huron. County
Historical Society announced that
their September meeting would
be held in Dunarinon United
Church on September 14th. with
papers given on interesting
topics. The October meeting to be
held in, the Walton Community
Hall on Oetober 17th at 8:15 p.m.
Mrs. Nelson Reid will give a hist-
ory of Walton.
Mrs. Austin Zoeller, F.W,I.O.
president, announced that the
'75th anniversary project of the ,
raising of $50,000 bad been sub-
scribed. The next project the
purchase of the 'Friend Lee home-
stead for $40,000 was halt sub-.
scribed.
A committee was chosen to
make bazaar articles for the
display at the Brussels Fall Fair.
Articles to be left at the home of
Amy Speir on or before the first
day of the Fair, Sept. 23rd.
t't was decided to purchase a
wreath for Armistice Day.
A letter received by Mrs. Marie
Davis from the adopted child
(that we and a number of other
W. is are supporting) fora birth-
day gift was read. It was decid-
ed that we Will continue with this
giving of $84 if the other Insti-
tutes are Willing.
Mrs. Neleman was called to the
front and Mrs. Wilma Reining-
Way expressed the members'
regrets to hear of her moving
away. She was given a. gift in
appreciaticin for her work at our
meetings.
The meeting was then turned over
to Mrs, Oudmore who asked for
