MRS. HERBERT MANNING
Mrs, Herbert Manning, the
former Maggie 11,ozell, passed
away in her 91st Year at the home
or her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr, and Mrs. .Clifford Shobbrook
of 'Hullet Township.
She was predeceased by her
husband .19 years ago. For many
years they farmed at Walton and
later resided in :PruSSels, She was
the last surviving member or her
,family of three brothers and four
sisters.
She is survived by three daught,
ers, Miss Laura Manning Of Kitch-
ener, Mrs. Clifford (Ruth) Shot),
brook. of Blyth, and Mrs. 0,
(Grace) Knob. of Calgary, Alta,
There are also tour grandchildren
,and two great-grandchildren.

BRUSSELS LIONS CLUB
The May meeting of the Brits-
.sels Lions Club was held with
Lion James.Armstrong presiding
in the absence of the president,
Lion Cal Kra -titer.
Liontamer Ken Scott led the
singsong with Miss Mary Gibson.
at the piano,
Lion Jim van Vliet performed the
duties of TailtwiSter.
Congratulations were extended
,to Lion George Mutter on his
election as District 'Deputy Cover,
nor, the first from. the Brussels
Club to hold that office.
Lion 'Roy Cousins nrought up
the subject of an hicrease.in sup-
per price asked for. After discus-
sion it was Moved by Lions Win,
Turitinill and Russ Knight that
suppers be $1.50 and fees be $20
per Lion for six months, an in-
crease of $2.00, becoming effective
in September.

The regular meeting of the
'United Church. Women was held
on May 1.1, 1970 at S o'clock in the
Brussels United Church with on
excellent attendance. VisitotS
were present from the Brussels
Anglican, Catholic and Presby-
terian Churches, and from Ei.thel.
Pdyth, Belgrave. Walton and Mon-
crierf 'United. Churches.
The 'Worship Service Was taken
by MrS. Thomas, Mrs. LeDrew,
and Miss Lucas, The offering was
received by Miss Skelton, Mrs.
R. Cousins and Mrs. C. Watson.
Linda Wilson accompanied by
Vonne McCutcheon favoured the
group with a, solo. Mrs. L. Meehan
welcomed the. guests.
Mrs. Ralph Pearson introduced
the Guest Speaker, Miss Doreen
Baker. Miss Baker had trained as
a nurse in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, In 1967 Miss Baker voltinte-
erect as one, of a medical team of
six, to spend, two years in Malay-
sia under the "CARE" organiz-
ation. CARE ,means Ce-opetative
American Relief Everywhere
which was started in 1946 to help
the poor countries of the world.
"Miss Baker gave an interesting
and informative account of her
work at the hospital in Malaysia
Of whichShe showed slideS as well,
as the country. The people are
Malays, Chinese and Indians.Gen-
eral health, is poor, but they are
very friendly. The medical team
"was invited into the homes of even
the poorest. They were invited
to all religious festivals, Main
religons are Hindu, MohamMedan
and Buddist.
