recently, pointed out that while
crafts are an important motivat-
ing tool, they are only a means to
end, Any art or era It or recreation,
should be an avenue of enjoyment
and a means of personal develop-
ment. e

'Teachers work with blind people
of all ages, a large percentage of
their clients are elderly. Many of
them live in (NIB residences. Be-
cause the cYrp, teacher is herself
blind, she has in a way a built-in
bond with her client. She, encour,
ages renewed interest in life by
patient, friendly direction in the

teacher' is proficient at many crafts
her elderly blind pupil is usually
encouraged to try at least one,

structors against teaching craftS
that are too simple or too repet-

hands need to he involved. It's
helpful too," she added, if the art
or craft raises a little money with
which to buy new materials,"
