ONE FARM ORGANI•ZATIO.N..
HOPEs. APPEAR DASHED -
Hopes for building one general
farm organization in Ontierio
appear to have been dashed.
At least for the time being.
But the president of the Ontario
.Federation of Agriculture says his
organization's "search for a basis
for building a meaningful single
organization wilt not he stopped,•
by this set-back.
Charles Munro of Embro Was
commenting on a resolution pas-
sed at a recent directors' meeting
of the Ontario Farmers' Union,
The resolution turned down an
offer from the r ederation
to have the Ontario section of
last spring's Ottawa March Corn-
rnittee work on pains for a new
single Cann organization.
The Federation and the Union
were Ontario representatives on
the march committee.
Mr. Munro's comments are in
as editorial under his signature
in the current issue of the newa-
Paper Farm and Country:

regret that OFA. members reacted
to rejection of their latest bid.
for discussion of farni orgardzat-
icitt unity.
"They InStruCted their execu-
tive to keep the door open for
fliturct disettasionti."
Mtinto says thoughtful
fanners, "no matter which organ-
ization they support, will regret
that the Union directors took this
step baCIEWard. They will regret
that responsible voices calling for
unity have been over-ruled,"
This was an ..ppitretit reference
to reports that union directors

The editorial says the Federat-
ion isn't giving up. The farm
people of Ontario have said so

up now would betray the
responsibility to build the organ-
million they want to serve t i.10111.
