The Easter Seal, nurses are
trained hi, orthopaedics; are ex-
perienced public health grad-
uates and have all had many
months training in working with,
crippltd chilaren. From the 2'0
district nursing offices of the
Society, they will Make more
than 1.9,000 home visits in a year.
Their area completely blankets
Ontario where they Work in
close Co-Ordination with the
district public health orticeS,
doctors, parents and the Elaster
Seal service clubs.
These travelling nurses are a
great source of comfort for: the
parents of crippled children as
well as the child, They will dem-
enstrate Inc cermet use of crot-
ches and wheelchairs, adjust
braces to release or prevent pres-
sure sores, They make sure :child-
ren attend clinics or treatment
centres when necessary and for
those who need a smaller vaca-
tion, that they attend one of the
Society's five camps.
There is no other Easter Seal
organization in the world that has
a nursing program for crippled
children such as in Ontario — and
it has become possible through
generous support to the annual
Easter Seal campaign by the Peo-
ple of Ontario. Since the nursing
service of the Ontario Society
for Crippled Children began in
1985, there have been thousands
of crippled children disCoVered by
these nurses and litany have, as a
mita of treatment, overcome
their physical disability,
