Pain jis a sympton of inaamation
of one of these spaces but only
normal drainage from them is
blocked,
A J3 tajOrit,r of sufferers of sin•
usitis haw no pain but a stuffy
nose with a yellowish or greenish
purulent discharge, which comes
frOm, both the nose and down the
na,ck of the throat as t post-nas-
al drip. In other worus, it is a bad
cold in the head which does not
clear up in the, usual week, or,
two, but persists and leads to
r-1 POI y seconsary conditions such
tt stee throat, horseness or loss
of voice •:nd a chronic cough or
chronic bronchitis.
A complete cure can be achiev-
ed in most cases of sinusitis in a
relatively short time. Once a diag,
nosis' is made, tests will indicate
the appropriate antibiotics.
When these are given hi adequate
doses, accompanied, by other
..ozr ssary treatments Such as
gentle irrigation of the sinuses
a complete cure often can be
achieved.
It a.so helps to stop smoking,
and it is better not to over-treat
the nose with nasal sprays and
drops which will only cause in,
creased congestion and irritation
lending to a chronic condition
and delayed recovery:
