All industrial pollution Will be
cleaned tip by 19'70 according
to J. R. Simonett, Minister of
Energy and Resources Manage.
mane. Mr. David Caverly, Ontario
Water Resources General Man-
ager said the 1970 deadline was
chosen after a great deal of
consideration. It is estimated that
Ontario industry last year spent
two or three hundred million in
order to meet the 1970 deadline.
During the estimates of the
Department of Energy and. Res-
ources Management it was point-
ed out that the Great Lakes levels
were abnormally low two years
ago have recovered to a point
where high water may be a prob-
lem this summer. Levels began
rising sharply last August and are
still mounting. The Lake water
levels reached their lowest ebb in
the summer of 1964 when many
tourist resorts and, boating cent-
res both pleasure and commerc-
ial were left high and dry as the
water receded so as much as 3
feet below normal.
The low levers were estimated
to have caused losses in millions
of dollars to Ontario's economy
that year.
The Ontario Municipal. Board
has approved the Wingham
Public School building program.
This was after much consul-
tation, on my part and on the
part of the School Board, with
the Department of Education and,
the Ontario Municipal Board.
The roadblock was caused by
the fact that no municipality Is
alowed to carry a debenture debt
which. exceeds 25 per cent of its
total assessment. In this case
Win gharn with its proposed 'new
school would have, exceeded this
limit. However these difficuties
were resolved to everyone%
Satisfaction.
An announcement was made
this Week in respect to crop in-
surance for fathers: Provided the
Federal Act is amended to pro-
vide for up to 80 per cent of Ions
coverage and to 'provide for Spot
lose coverage on an individual
crop, the Ontario plan will come
into operation and will be applic-
able for the crop year of 1967.
Pnrticipation in the plan will be
voluntary but it. will apply on a
province-wiae basis.
The proposed program will
provide coverage up to SO pen
cent of the normal production of
a. particular crop. it is the in-
tention to establish yields on an
individual farm !mete rather than
attempting to do NO on an area
basis. Coneemtently ea eh fare).

conditions, (2) It can enhance his
oredit position. (3) It can re.
move the need for diversification
as a, hedge against crop failures
or losses with one crop. This
could encourage greater special
ization.
THEY DESERVE IT
At the May meeting of the
Children's Aid Society the poi.
sibility of sending some children
to the various church camps in
the county for a week or ten days
this summer was dlscussed. The
number .of children s::to be .eon-
sidered is small, and the coat Is
approximately $15 -620 per child.
The members feel that this Is a
very worthwhile project. Any In-
dividual ..or group ,interested In
helping with camp fees for any
of these children, please contact
the Children's Ald Society office
in the Court House, Goderich, as
soon as possible.

and other pests. If actual product-
ion, for the above resasons, falls
below the insured percentage of
the normal level, then the pro-
ducers will be eligible for claim
payments to the extent of the
deficiency.
A. farmer will not be compelled
to insure all crops grown on his
farm. He may decided only to in-
sure one particular crop and this
will be quite permissable under
the proposed policy.
The actual premium cost to the
producer, at the present, will be
reduced by a 25 per cent contri-
bution from, the Federel govern-
ment and 5 per cent contribution
by the Provincial government.

province, Crop insurance can offer
many advantages to the producer.
