Lament's turn to deal now and
he turned up the Jack of Clubs.
He held 2 little diamonds, 2 little
hearts and the nine of spades. He
cussed a bit anti turned it down.
prayed it alone in hearts. Al
Logan says to Lenny, what aid
you nave in Clubs, why did you
turn it downy Lolly took another
peea and he had Ace,
Queen, nine and ten or the (tarn
things. Jack Aicock, who was
watching, made a hasty retreat
but two cards were missing so•
Houghton askew J acE to come
back and remove his shoes. The
cards were in tne shoes. Next
hand Lamont was asked to name
the color of his cards. Different
decks were used. If Lenny was
playing with, a red deck they
turned blue or vice versa. I heard
Logan told Lamont they would
have to quit, either the ale or the
cards. Well, we lett with the
Legion morale completely broken.
I must keep good friends as my
hat is definitely in the ring for the
coming election. I am founding a
new party, the five double yous,
Wine, ,Women, Wages Without,
'Work. Have been promised a great
many siipporters already.
Bye for now, Let's shake your
hand at the big party Oct. 22.

GENTLEMEN'S CLUB
NEWS ITEMS.
Last winter, in our card gum-
petition. with the Legion, Lady
Luck never once helped our club.
For four nights we had to play
iwith nines, tens and Queens. The
fifth night she remained neutral
and science took over. We won.
Well, this summer we decided to
import a coach from Toronto. He
Made his appearance the other
day. I introduced him. to our
members and he taught us more
in 20 minutes about cards than we
had learned in a life time. Charlie
Draper said we were all hypnotiz-
ed. The skill of this man, Norman
Houghton, is weird and uhbelieve-
able unless you see for yourself
I phoned Lea Lamont and Al
Logan and a few other to break
their morale. We commenced our,
game with Houghton and
against Logan. and Lamont.
lu the cut for deal Houghton
won and turned up the King of
Diamonds. Lamont burst into a
laugh. lie had both Bowers, Ace,
Queen and ten. With the sweet-
est of smiles he played it alone..
He led out with the Jack of Dia-
monds. To his horror when it hit
td e• table it was the nine of
clubs. lie then tried the Jack of
Hearts which promptly lamed
into the nine of spades. Of course
he was euchred. Well it was
