a b4nk loan
It has become almost standard practice
today for people to go to their bank to
finance the purchase of cars and other
family items, You, too, may have found it
a good idea, to borrow where you save — at
your local bank. It is often simpler, because
the bank already knows you as a savings
customer. And it also may save you money
because bank loans are low-cost loans. For
borrowing and, saving, and for any other
bank service you may need, just visit your
local chartered bank. It's the one place
where you can get all your banking done,
under one roof.
THE CHARTERED BANKS

The past week was a Very busy
week in the Ontario Legislature
as many of the important pieces
of Legislation were brought be-
fore the House. 37 amendments
to the .3rhunicipal Act were in
for first reading. One
Amendment would permit a town-
ship to police villages. At present
there are more than 150 police
-villages in. Ontario. Another
amendment would give munici•
panties the right to centre] store
closing hours. A right for which
some communities have battled
to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mast of the Amendments are de-
isigned to encourage municipal-1
ities to think in term of regional
government.
Another interesting point is
that all accessore will now be
licensed by the DepartMent of
Itilunicipal Aftairfk
At 9.30 on Friday morning May
21, the Flag Raising CeremonY
Was held in front of the Legis-
lature and the new Ontario Flag
'was raised. It has been an un-
wlual year as we have had 2
flag raisings at the trent et the
Legislature this spring, An
occasion that will seldom b.appen.
again.
We criticized the government
for boasting of "surpluseS".
There are several examples of
phenomena which I. could give.
Of the :326 projects shown as "re-
quested" in the 1964-1965 Blue
Book, there were 159 of these
projects not acted upon in any
way as shown by the 1965-1966
Blue Peek. That is approximate-
ly 49% of the requested projects
over one year ago that have not
yet been acted upon..
This morning the Minister of
IldUcatiort introduced an amend-
ment to the •DePartinent of bdir
cation Act whin: now permits
the setting up of a network of
commenity colleges which seem
to be very satisfactory to all
Meg. parties in the Ontario Legis-
lature, These colleges would act
as a bridge between grade 13 and
uiversity.
We have 6 estimates still left
to be dealt with which will take
approximately 2 to 3 weeks; In
addition to the Community Col-
lege Legislation welfare Ariend-
ment and Pension legislation
was brought before the House.
