On January 8th, Gayle Hunt was
discharged from Stratford Hos-
ptal where she was a patient. She
had her appendix rem.oved. Atter
a month's recuperation she will
return to the Rosebine Nursing
Home, Stratford, where she is
employed.

on the 9 a.m. DraW at the Howick
Lions Club Bonspiel, held at List-
owel, 'Wednesday, January 13.

Duff's UCW Meet
The January meeting was held
at the horne of Mrs. Wilbur Turn-
bull on Wednesday afternoon
Jan. 13th with 15 members pre-
sent.
.Mrs. Rae Houston opened the
meeting with, a reading f`The New
Year",
Hymn 345 was sung and the
scripture was taken from Luke
17: 11-19.
Mrs. Don McDonald led in
prayer. The topic "Faith for the
Near Year" was read by Mrs.
Don McDonald. Hymn 399 was
sung followed by prayer.
Mrs. Harold Bolger conducted
the business , The annual meet-
ing for the church is on the night .
of January 21st, The 8th to , take
sandwiches and the 16th tarts.
There was a discussion on
supplies.
Grace was sung and lunch was
served by Mrs. Jan van Vliet,
Mrs. Don McDonald and the

worship period at the January
meeting of Duff's Malton unit of
UCW. in the church school rooms.
"Jesus the Hope of the. World"

mentary. Prayer was offered by
Mrs. Bennett and Scripture pas-
sages read by Mrs. Dundas. Medi-
tation on this reading was follow-
ed with prayer by Mrs. Bennett
and a poem, "New rears Wish,"
Mrs. Emerson lailtehell gave the
topic "Saltarte, the Ambitious
Mother", Mrs. Allan McCall, the
president, was in Charge of the
business, Roll call was answered
by handing in a quilt block. Mrs,
Jas Clark read the Secretary's re-
port and thank-you notes for
boxes received at Christmas. Mrs.
W. Bewley, treasurer, gave her
report, also the financial state-
ment. The annual meeting will be
Jan. 21, in the evening. Mrs.

Two New Members
The Inaugural meeting of the
Village council for 1965 was held
in the Municipal. Office, on Jan-
uary 11th, all members being pre-
sent. 'rhe declaration of offices
were taken by, the Clerk after
which th e. Reverend Jennings of
St. John's Anglican Church spoke
to Council. i-Te commended Council
on the fine work they have done
in the past and offered several
suggetations for future Councils,

two old members of Council.
