Market information taken, from Production and marketing branch, Canada Dept, • a Agri. The slaughter eartio market was very uneven last week, 'both in price and demand. Steers and heifers varied from 50e higher to $1.00 lower. Cows and bulls Were generally steady to $1,00 higher. Feeder cattle were from 50e higher to $1.00 uown, andveal calves steady 4o$3.00 higher, Hog prices closed lower at all centres, and lambs from $1.00 higher to. $1.50 lower. Slaughter Cattle: The pre- holiday offerings at the ten public stockyards were 5100 below the previous week and 4700 more than in the same week last year, amounting to 22.500 head. The run at eastern markets was clown 2100, and western on, centres showed a decrease of 3,000 head front last week, Most markets expected good clearances by the end of the week. In general, offering's. were lower in quality with only Calgary showing some improvement. The over-all rating for the week gives indication of 'grading close to 38.7 per cent choice and good. Exports 'of beef cattle to the U. S. were sharply reduced, 14,406 head, with last week's shipments from stock, yard's indicating a slow-down In exports.
