Everything is set for
Flowick's 125th party.
Residents of Howick are
gearing up for what should be
the biggest celebrationn the
township, as ever seen when
it commemorates its 125
anniversary next week.
Gordon Kaster of Wroxeter
one of the organizers, said he
is overwhelmed by the res
ponse to the celebration so
far. He said 4,500 family
invitations were sent out and
many 'replies have been re-
ceived asking for tickets or
more information.
Mr. Kaster said the towns-
people and business men are
starting to put up banners
and historical display s. He
said everything is ready and
waiting for the celebration to
begin and ” the only thing we
have no control over is the
weather" But he added he is
sure the weather will hold up
for the weekend.
The festivities will com-
mence on Wednesday even-
ing at a variety concert to be
held at the Howick Commun-
ity Centre. The Anniversary
Queen and Princess are to be
crowned that night. Thursday
big event will be a giant Bingo
at community centre with a
$1,000.00 jackpot.
Registratation is to be held
Friday at the Town Halls and
two dances are scheduled for
Friday evening, one in the
Howick Community Centre
and one in Belmore.
A School reunion is slated
for Saturday morning at the
Howick Central School and on
Sat urdayafternoon there will
bed a' Parade from Fordwich,
to the Howick Community
centre featuring over 100
floats, bands and steam cars
and tractors.
Other events for Saturday
include a Pork Barbecue and
125 Costume Ball in the
evening,, both to be held at
the Howick.Community Cen-
tre
Sunday activities will. in-
clude Annivet sary Services
at the Township Churches, a
beef barbecue and shirt-tail
parade and dance.
Monday is to be a day for
visiting with not much plan-
ned becau se school re-opens
the next day.
NEW COMMITTEE
A new Campaign Commit-
tee for the Arthritis Society
has been organized in Gorrie.
They will kick off their first
campaign the week of Sept-
ember 13 to September 20.
Bol;"Oibson, a well known
resident of the community,
has consented to act as
chairman of the committee.
He and his volunteers will
be covering the door-to-door
campaign in the village of
Gorrie only.

on the ship "Odessa" to
Vancouver, B.C.

Teeswater jumped into an
early lead with a six-run third
inning and 'continued. to pile,
up the runs, while holding
Formosa off the board. For-
mosa came back with six runs
in the eighth inning, but was
unable to close the gap.
The winning team took
home $100.00 and a Trophy
while the runners-up receiv-
ed $75.00 and a trophy.
In the B dvision Belmore
nipped Molesworth 1240 for
the title, $75.00 and a trophy.

team. Action got underway
Friday night at the Gorrie Ball
Park and continued through
Sunday afternoon. Excellent
weather all weekend contri-
buted. to a good turnout of
spectators.
The Diggers were assisted
throughout the weekend by
members of W toxeter
Royals, who handled the
umpiring chores and the
Gorrie Intermediate girls who
collected money at the gate. ,
