JORRITSMA—FISCHER
Klaas Jorritsma, son of Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Jorritsma Sr.
R.R. 3 Wingham and Shelley Fischer, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Fischer R.R. 4 Brussels were united in marriage
by Pastor Ross Smith at the Wingham Baptist Church on
July 4. Matron of honour was Kim Ducharme, Brussels.
Best man was Mark de Boer, Wingham. The bridesmaids
were Karen Hehn, Riverside, Cathy Marks, R.R. 4
Brussels, and Annette Jorristsma, Wingham. Ushers were
John Tenpas,Riverdale, Randy Fischer, Brussels, Pete de
Boer, Vancouver, Brian McArter, Brussels was ringbearer.
The reception was held at the B.M.G. community centre.
Master of ceremonies was Barry Wick, London.

LEVINA PEARL KEFFER
The former Levina Pearl
Jacklin, widow of the late.
Charles Telford Keifer of
R.R. 1 Ethel died at Listowel
Memorial Hospital, Friday
Aug. 21 in her 96th year.,
She was born Jan 30, 1886,
the youngest daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Elijah
Jacklin of Grey twp. She
attended S.S. #4 and in 1902
went to Toronto and took a
millnery couise. In 1907 she
married Charles Keifer 'and
they farmed on, the home-
stead until 1956 when he
died. Mrs. Keffer retired to
Brussels and then to the
Hienstra Rest Home in Listo-
wel.
She is survived by five
sons, Wilfred, Fred, Lloyd all
of R.R. 1 Brussels, Charles,
of R.R. 1 Williamsford and
Ralph of R.R. 2 Bluevale. She
is also survived by 30 grand-
children, 29 great-grandchil-
dren and 2 great-great grand-
children. She was predeceas-
ed by one son Halbert of
Richmond. B.C. and two
grandsons and one grand,
daughter.
The late Levina Pearl Kef-
fer rested at Peebles Funeral
Home, Atwood. Service and
committal was held Monday,
Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. Interment
was at Mt. Pleasant Ceme-
tary, Ethel.
In dairy princess contest
Two area women are a-
mong the 45 county and dairy
princesses from across the
province hoping to be crown-
ed 26th Ontario Dairy Prin-
cess at Toronto Sept. 2. Di-
anne Oldfield of R.R. 4
Seaforth is representing Hur-
on County, and Kathy Strac-
han of R.R. 2 Atwood is Perth
County's representative.
Contestants, ages 17 to 25
years, are judged on public
speaking ability and know-
ledge of the dairy industry as
well as personality, poise and
appearance. The winner be-
comes an employee of the
Ontario Milk Marketing
Boatd, representing provin-
cial producers in public
relations capacity. Her busy
schedule will include trips
across the province, and to
Great Britain and the United
States.
Her coronation will take
place in the main ring of the
coliseum at the Canadian
' National Exhibition, where
provincial minister of agricul-
ture Lorne C. Henderson and
Dntario Milk M arketing
Board chairman Kenneth G.
McKinnon will be in attend-
ance.
Preliminary and semi-final
competitions from Aug. 24
through Sept. 1 precede the
crowning.'

affect women, self-aware-
ness. re-entering the work-
force or changing careers,
spirituality, personal rela-
tionships, and women who
work at home. All workshops
are led by women working in
these areas.
Mr. Cameron encourages
all interested women to con-
tact the college and register
early because there is room
for only 120 delegates. The
conference fee is $20 and
accommodation is available
at Centralia College for $10.

cultural Technology and
Conestoga ,College are host-
ing "Directions: a conference
for women living in rural
areas", August 28 and 29,
"Women are playing an
increasingly valuable role in
agriculture and this confer-
ence is the first we've- ever
held specifically designed for
rural women", says Don
Cameron, head of communi-
, cations at Centralia where the
conference is being held.
Directions features two
well-known speakers and a
series of workshops on issues
important to rural women.
On Friday evening Laura
Sabia, former director of the
Canadian Advisdry .Council
on the Status of Women, will
discuss directions for women
in the eighties.
On Saturday, Dianne Har-
kin, an active farmer and
co-founder of Women for the
Survival of Agriculture, will
speak about the challenges
