"Queen of the Fairs Pageant" meets with Spring Le Gard, Miss C.N.E. 1980, at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. The final judging for this year's Queen took place Friday, August 21. Coultes 2W19 I 1111,..4•1 0 Carol Wheeler R.R. 5, Brussels received her Gold Medal in Free. Skating at a test day held in Kitchener on August 8th.. This is the highest award in Free Skating and makes her a double Gold Medalist in Skating as she also has her Gold Medal in Dance. Kevin Wheeler R.R. 5, Brussels and his free skate Pair Partner Christine Hough of Kitchener placed first in Junior Pair in Toronto over 10 other pairs on Aug. 16th to take the Gold Medal and Trophy. Christine also took the Gold Medal in Junior Silver Ladies free skate and Kevin received the Silver Medal in Novice Men Free United Church, London. The reception was held at the Sunningdale Golf and Coun- try Club. Glenn and Janice are presently attending the University of Western Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sweeny and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Martin spent the weekend at Niagara-on-the-Lake. At the Local Touinament Aug. 20 winners were: Ladies Pairs - Jack Yuill Trophy - Marj. Coultes 3W31 Mary Turvey. Eleanor Hemingway 2W34, Helen Martin 2W32, Dorothy Hoff- man 2W27, Margaret Mun- dell 1W25, Ruth Hupfer 1W24, Elda Coultes 1W22, Skate over 10 other competit- ors in this same competition. Kevin also passed his Paso Doble Dance test in Kitchen- er Aug. 15th. From London On Sunday August 16th a bridal shower party was held at the home of Julie and Bett Campbell in honour of Nancy Cousins, daughter of Laurie and Pieta Cousins of London, whose marriage to David Hessel will be solemnized on September 26, 1981. Emily Cousins 'gave some' humorous readings and then the address. Laura, Janette and Gwen Cousins and Julie ' Campbell presented Nancy with her gifts, after which Nancy thanked everyone. A tasty luncheon was served to her relatives and friends. They were interested in visiting here for their. great-grandfather, Saumuel Smale, came to Brussels about 1861. He was a tailor. He is buried in Brussels cemetery. Mrs. R.
