CRIBBAGE TOURNAMENT WINNERS--Legion members were busy competing in a cribbage tournament of the Legion Fraternal Honorary Members held in Brussels on Saturday and this team from Goderich was the winner. CAPITOL THEATRE 291-3070 Lhtovv(11 Atom tourney a big success The Brussels Optimist Atom Tournament came to a successful conclusion over the weekend. The "B" and "D" Division competition took place with Merritton winning the "B" champion- ship and Teeswater taking the "D" crown, In perhaps the most excit- ing game of the Tournament Teeswater edged Ripley 1 to 0 after three periods of sudden death overtime. reeswater reached the finals by beating Rockton 8 to 4 and Myth 8 to 0. Ripley earned a berth in the finals by edging Mlldmay 1 to 0 and defeating Brussels 9 to 1. In the D Division Consolation final Rockton defeated Brussels 4 to 1. In the B Division, Merrit- ton captured the champion- ship by edging St. Marys 3 to 2 in the final game. Merrit- ton, in earlier games, defeat- ed Blenheim 10 to 0 and. Hanover 3 to 2. St. Marys reached the final by edging Walkerton 3 to 2 in overtime and defeating Mount Forest 4 to 2. In the B Consolation Championship game Han- over slipped past Walkerton 4 to 3 to win the crown. Brad Richardson of the Kitchener Whales team was the lucky winner of a free week at the Htironivikickey School which was donated by John Thompson. The Mild- May Atoms were selected as the most sportinanlike team OR their excellent conduct I People we know Mrs. Kathleen Danby re- turned home from spending a month with her daughter and son-in-law, Ron and Bertha Westcott in Missis- sauga. Midgets lose out On Friday March 20 the Brussels Midgets played their first game in. the Wingham Tournament. Brussels defeated Teeswater 8-1. Goal scorers were not available. On Sunday March 22 Brussels playe:-1 their second game of the tourna- ment only to be defeated 3-2 in overtime. This eliminated Brussels from the tourna- ment. BANTAMS On Friday March 20 Brus- sels bantams played the first game against West Lorne in the best 3 out of 5 in the semi-finals in the 0.M.H.A. play-offs. Brussesl defeated West Lorne 4-2. Scoring for Brussels was Kevin McArter 2 Dean Rutledge 1 •Darrin Watts I. Assist going to Dean Rutledge and Tim Fritz. On Sunday the Bantams return- ed to West Lorne for the second game with Brussels defeating West Lorne 6-4. Scoring for Brussels were Tim Fritz 3 David Cossitt 1 Darrin Watts 1 Dean Rut- ledge 1, assists going to Kevin Johnston, Kevin Mc- Arter, Darrin Watts and Mike Smith.
