BY JANIS ACHESON February has been an interesting month for our residents. With our ongoing activities in full swing a new, and much appreciated ser- vice has been formally ini- tiated. The staff and resi- dents would like to thank Bev Cardiff for setting up a , regular Sunday Church serv- ic here. The following is an Laura Lucas entertained members of the Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. in her home on Tuesday. 19 members answered the roll call and 41 visitations were recorded for the month. The president, Ida Evans called the meeting to order by reading a poem, "Gods Will". The hymn "At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow" opened the Devotional pro- gram. The Bible Study, Psalm 116 was read in unison. Dorothy Ritchie led in the discussion. This is one of David's finest writings and although it is very personal Wingham and District Christian High School Society held a membership meeting Feb. 27 at the Wingham Bible Chapel. At the meeting the .proposed constitution was adopted, and a board of directors elected. The membcrshp instructed the board to promote the cause of Christian Education and to direct efforts towards USE Post WANT-ADS excerpt from a letter sent to each participating Church, by Bev, on behalf of Calland- er Nursing Home, "Thank you very much for your willingness to partici- pate in providing regular church services for the folks in our Nursing Home. The staff and residents appre- ciate your co-operation very much. We find that 30-40 minutes by the extensive use of the pronouns "1" and "Me" it is very acceptable and delight- ful. It is alone through reading the Scriptures, that we find faith, and impres- sions of God arc manifested to us through Christ. Mrs. Dorothy Steffler re- ferred to the packet material for the study on "Partners". Christians arc partners in the circle of God's love. It is our business that we form a good partnership. We do need help in learning to be appre- ciative of our bountiful gifts and blessings. Dr. D. Brown has been a • opening a Christian High School in September, 1982. Obitu ary EDWARD GIESSLER Edward Giessler of Fraser, Michigan died February 26th of heart failure after a year long illness in his 81st year. Mr. Giessler was born in Germany and moved to Detroit where he worked at Chryslers for 32 years. He was the son-in-law of Paul Jeschke of Cranbrook and was pre deceased by his wife Hertha. Mr. Giessler greatly enjoyed his yearly visits to Cranbrook and to his friends there. He is survived by his daughter Betty Hirzel, and granddaughter Holly. on. Sunday afternoon is about the right amount of time. Maybe some of the members of your choir and congrega- tion would like to attend the service. Let us try to take as much of the familiar to our senior citizens, as we possibly can. They are still members of our Christian family and it is up to us to show them just that. I know that in giving of your chaplain in the Peterborough Civic Hospital since 1972, He had . been a minister in Newfoundland and Winnipeg Following a course in Mass- achusett s where he majored in psychology and clincral study, he was called to Peterborough Hospital time and talent to these folks, that you will be blessed." Bev Cardiff on behalf of the Callander Nurs- ing Home. After doing some fancy baking earlier this week, our residents had a chance to eat the fruits of their labor during a Valentines Day tea party. Jeanette Boyton acted as hostess for the afternoon where he and other assistant ministers and lay people do great work. This form of ministry is finding its way into many of our local hospitals. An ordained per- son projects a certain and valuable type of support to the patients. while Freda Pipe provided a variety of piano music for everyone's enjoyment. Our February bingo champion was. Frank Dunn. Our February birthday party was put on by the Brussels United Church Women to help the following people celebrate their birth- days: Alex Mcdonald, Maggie MacDonald, Burns Stewart, Donald McNaugh- ton and Annie Fry. Laura Cousin and Tracy Mayer entertained 'everyone by singing a couple of well- known songs and Karen and Susan Cardiff teamed up for a duet. The ladies led everyone in an old-fashioned sing-song which was enjoyed by all. After singing Happy Birthday, refreshments were served and a social time followed. This group, with their lively program and their high spirits, effectively chased the winter doldrums away. Recently, when Freda Pipe was in to play the piano for us, Barb McCutcheon stop- ped by and sang along with the music. It wasn't very long before she was joined by some of our residents. What a nice way to brighten up a dreary winter afternoon. BERG ales Service! Installation FREE ESTIMATES o Barn Cleaners ° Bunk Feeders o Stabling Donald G.
