The new members of the Executive are Bill Fear and Louise Marritt. Bill is a beef farmer and Twp. Direct- or for Morris Township. Louise operates a sheep farm and is President of Turnberry Twp. F. of A. Executive members re- elected are Jim Hunter and Jim McIntosh. Jim Hunter is a dairy farmer from East Wawanosh and is a Director- at-large of the county federa- tion. Jim McIntosh operates a poultry farm in Tucker- smith Township and he is the 1. S.M. Director for Huron West Central. President Gerry Fortune, First Vice Pres. John Van. Beers, and Second Vice-Pres. Gordon Hill, Chairman of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture Properties and Land Use Committee, report- ed .on a meeting of- his committee and the Dept. of Natural Resources about the impact of the Pits and Quarries Control Act on this area. Local concern had been expressed that this Act would encourage closure of small pits and result in higher gravel prices. The Committee Report ac- cepted ; by the Directors meeting made the following recommendations: 1. That H.C.F.A.. urge O.F.A. to request the Ministry of Nat- ural Resources to exempt pits with less that 30,000 tons from the requirements of the Pits and Quarries Act requir- ing fences and rehabilitation plans prepared by expensive consultants such as surve: y- ors and engineers. 2.
