Ladies Aid meets The Melville Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. Elsie Evans for their Novem- ber meeting with 10 mem- bers and two visitors pre- sent. Mrs. Hazel Matheson as leader, opened the meeting. Adeline Smith read the scrip- ture and Ethel Long read in prayer. Roll call was answer- ed with verses on "Remem- brance." Readings were given by Elsie Evans, Hazel Matheson and Mrs. Glenna Stephens. Elsie Evans had a contest. The meeting closed with a benediction and lunch was served by Ethel Long, assist- ed by the hostess. NDP launches membership drive On Saturday Nov. 1 Gwen Pemberton, Bayfield, Fran McQuail, Lucknow and Valerie Bolton, Belgrave, members of the Huron-Mid- dlesex NDP attended a joint meeting with Huron-Bruce, Grey-Bruce and Grey NDP in Walkerton. The Ontario' NDP is mounting a Province wide membership drive. Huron- Middlesex will participate in this drive. Some door to door canvassing will begin by November 22. Details' on membership with the NDP can be obtain- ed by writing Valerie Bolton, Secretary, Huron-Middlesex NDP, R.R. 1 Belgrave. Anne-Rae Fishman from the Ontario NDP provincial office explained the plans for the province wide member- ship drive. The local mem- bership committee will be holding a social at the end of the drive to welcome new members to the party.
