Birthday Party hosted by the
Brussels United. Church
Women. Mary Douma and
Luella Mitchell brought the
Grade one children from
Brussels Public School and
they presented a program of
singing and poetry. A Valen-
tine's skit, performed by
Mrs. Nelva Scott, success-
fully captured and held every
one's attention. Afterwards
Mrs. Betty Campbell played
some "golden oldies" on the
piano and led the children
and residents in a sing-song.
Then the birthday cake and
gifts were distributed. The
party was in honor of Alex
McDonald, Miss Olive Currie)
Donald McNaughton, Mrs.
Annie Fry, Mrs. Laura Wil-
liamson, Mr. Burns Stewart,
and Mrs. Margaret Mac
Donald.
After decorating the Nur-
sing Home, we celebrated
Valentine's Day with a social
and dance combined: The
party was off to a good start
when the talented staff,
along with Mrs. Margaret
MacDonald and Mrs. Beat-
rice Cardiff; led the residents
in a sing-a-long. After sing-
ing all the requested songs
we knew, we held a dance. A
large number of residents
and staff enjoyed dancing to
the nice selection of records
played by Mr. Carl Lawatski.
When it was time for refresh-
ments, decorated, heart-
shaped cookies were served.
The cookies Were made by
the residents and were as
delicious as they were pretty.- .
