Gracing winter chill and snows.
The beauty of the Christmas Rose
Holds something of the peace subline
That Blesses us at Christmas time.

Here we go again! The Conservative
Government brought down over the budget
brought in. Another election to go through
again; so soon. That is something
Canadians could well do without. This is
not the kind of Christmas gift Canada can
afford at this time. What is going to
happen now? Who will lead the Liberal
Party in the upcoming election. fight? At
time of writing this (Friday, Dec. 14th) no
one knows for sure. If Iona Camp agnola
runs, and wins the leadership of the Liberal
Party, Canada could have a Lady Prime
Minister in the near future. How would the
majority of Canadiaris feel about that?

Another incentive to stop smoking!
Cigaretts will go up on price again. The
fact that cigerette smoking is a bad habit
that can be as difficult to break as
alcoholism is gradtlally worming its way
into my thick skull. If the knowledge that
smoking those smelly, messy, burnt-hole-
of a smoker does not stop one from
smoking those smelly, messy, bunt-hole-
in-clothing things, surely knowing that
each puff is burning up more and more of
that nice green stuff will do the trick that
should put a stop to the ever increasing
useless drain on the wallet. The price
increase on gas and alcohol does not
disturb me very much, Driving is some-
thing I do not do a great deal of. As for
alcohol, I do not gunle it down bottle after
bottle though it is nice to have it in the
house for c.;;Itain occasions. Since this was
written these increases in price may not go
into effect.

i his is the holiday season when you will
be having visitors, or going on visits, or
having special happenings. Phone the
office of the Brussels Post, 887-6641, write,
or drop in and tell us about them. We
appreciate any news you are kind enough
to give us.

With all the holiday season festivities -
family gatherings, parties, dance: s, gift
giving and Santa Claus - we are apt to lose
sight of the true meaning of Christmas! The
Birth of our Saviour is the reason for the joy
of Christmas. 'The Christmas season has
become so commercialized that by the time
Christmas Day comes people have been so
busy trying to cope with all the pressures
that they give little time, or thought, to the
Babe of Bethlehem.

The kind of weather we have been
having is ideal. Cold, yes, but no snow to
shovel, no getting the car stuck in
snowdrifts or ploughed past in the drive-
way. All we need of snow is just enoughfor
a lovely white blanket to cover the dirty
slush and give us a traditional white
Christmas. Of course the outdoors 'folks,
snowbb lers, skiers, etc, are hoping for lots
of snow. The winter resort operators will
lose money if they do not get it for the
Christmas season which is one of their
most profitable times,
