POST, SEPTEMBER 19, 1979 Brusselsfest features Liars Last year's Brusselsfest held by the Brussels Opti- mists was so successful that 150 people had to be turned away, and this year the Optimists are sponsoring the Dr. and Mrs. Clare Arthur and daughter Nancy, of Cambridge (Preston), were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Harry Bolger. Mrs. Arthur is the former Joan McDowell. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Max Oldfield were Doctors Cecil and Anne Rytwinski event once again. This year a new twist has been added to the Brussels- fest which is to be held Saturday, September 22--a Liars' Contest in which from Rainy River; Mr. and Mrs, Rytwinski and family, from Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. E. Richardson, Collingwood; Mr. and Mrs. J. Oldfield from Dundalk. Doctors Rytwinski have left for 3 weeks holiday in Cancun, Mexico. people are required to tell a tall tale in about five minutes. Publicity chairman George Langlois, calls the Brussels- fest "Just a fundraising and fun day," and said they're hoping to get all the tickets sold in advance. Part of the money raised is to go to the Leo Club to help them in their quest for tennis courts for the village. Along with the Liars' Con- test, the Gong Show will once again be held with both contests offering cash prizes for first, second and third place. Floyd Herman of R.R.3, Brussels is the Master of Ceremonies for this year's contests and Gary Elston is in charge of both. Entry forms for the contests are available at Mayer's jewellery store. Something else new to the Brusselsfest this year are Brusselsfest T-shirts which can be purchased the day of the event or at George of Brussels hairstyling shop.
