Mrs. Phelan said they had no complaints
with what council had done so far and were
trying' to give council some ideas on what
they thought could be improved.
Keith Moffatt from the Bluevale
Community Centre Board was, another
deputation at the meeting. At a previous
council meeting, council had received a
letter requesting a donation to the Bluevale
Community Hall. Council had given $150 for
roof repairs and through a mistake the
money had been spent on oil after the hall
furnace blew up. Reeve Elston said the hall
would cost about $1000 to fix up over the
years.
A public meeting is to be held on July 16
at the hall to see if people want it to remain
open.
"If the people in that community feel that
they want to keep it operating who else
should decide?" said councillor Procter.
Council decided to wait until after the
public meeting before deciding whether or
not to give another grant to the hall.
The Walton library was also discussed. At
the last meeting council had decided to look
into getting another building for the library.
Council at Monday night's meeting had a
latter from the Huron County Library saying
if council was considering co-operation with
Grey and McKillop Townships in improve-
ments to the library, the library board was

willing to purchase shelving and the

that they would be willing to pay rent up to

Councillor Procter told council he had seen
some office type trailers and that they could
get a used one for about $4,500,
Also at the meeting six ratepayers
attended to hear' the Blacichall Drain report.
Council passed a motion to provisionally
adopt on assessment for entrance and the
repair to the Blackhall Drain.
In the minutes of previous meetings it was
reported that Morris Council held a special
meeting on June 28 with Huron-Perth
Assessment Commissioner Floyd Jenkins to
discuss township assessment. Council is to
discuss the matter further at another council
meeting.

Breaking time records in
tractor safety is the modern
replacement of breaking hor-
ses in corrals. From June 23
to July 21, eight cmpetitions
will be held in Junior Farmer
zones across Ontario.
All Junior Farmer mem-
bers are welcome to compete
says Larry Swinn, public
relations coordinator of the
Farm Safety Association.
Top contestants from each
zone will vie for prizes at the
Junior Farmers' Field Day,
August 11, at Guelph. Top
prize is a glower equipment
washer. A banquet is plan-
ned to award medals and
trophies.
"The competitions are de-
signed to increase skill and
safety in the operation of
farm equipment," says Mr.
Swinn.
There are three parts to
the rodeo. The first is a
written safety examination
followed by a practical dri-
ving exercise with tractor
and wagon. Finally, contes-
tants must prove driving
ability with a tractor and
front-end loader. Judges
from the Farm Safety Asso-
ciation score points based on
time, and demonstrated skill
and safety.
Mr. Swinn says Junior
Farmers have, been enthus-
iastic about sponsoring the
rodeos with the Farm Safety
Association and a large equip-
ment manufacturer. Some
events have been held succes-
sfully in conjunction with
Ontario fairs. This year, the
competitions will be held on
farms and school parking
lots.
"Tractor safety rodeos

are excellent ways to pro-
mote safety among Junior
Farmers," says Mr. Swinn.
"This is a difficult age group
of farmers to attract, because
many are too old for 4-H
clubs or are too young for
most farm organizations."
Ontario Junior Farmers is
a rural youth organization
with 7,500 members. Any
member interested in enter-
ing the tractor safety rodeo
can receive more details from
assistant agricultural repre-
sentatives at local offices of
the Ontario Ministry of Agri-
culture and Food.
