Public School get together with teacher Howard Morton and shoot off rockets. The boys built their own rockets after school and at home. Mr. Morton teaches some students how to build the rockets and he also teaches them safety. No student is allowed to take the engine that fires the rockets home unless a person of 18 or older signs a letter stating that they are responsible for the boy. Mr. Morton has eight to 10 boys with rockets and two boys with motor airplanes. Mr. Morton said that if it's a windy day the parachute after blastoff tends to get carried off quite a distance. He also teaches pupils how to fly model planes ,the day the photographer came was too windy for planes to fly because they break and the The Brussels Friendship Club met April 18 in the Legion hall with a good attendance. Verna Thomas, president was chairman and the meeting opened with the singing of "0 Canada". Two numbers, "0 What a beautiful morning," and "Someone greater than you and I" were sung by Mrs. Van Vliet, Fred Thuell also entertained by playing several numbers on the violin. The secretary's report was read by Gertie Bolger. Verna declared the minutes approved as read. Laura rockets tend to parachute down. But Mr. Morton said he plans to fly the planes soon on a less windy day. Ludas gave the treasurer's report,May 1 is the date for the spring rally to be held at 3rand Bend. Registration is at 10 a.m. The Club is invited to Atwood May 15. This is an evening meeting starting at 8 o'clock. the Club's next meeting will be held May 16. A few games of euchre were played followed by lunch. Winners for euchre as follows: High Lady - Sadie McDonald; High gent - Mrs. D.
