Jim Phelan then introduced the guest speaker, professor Joseph inie Meeker from the Department of Geography at Brock University, Mrs, Meeker asked the Junior Farmers for their help in the replacement or pur- chasing of new Century Farm Signs for farmers of Huron County. Jim has been an active member for five years and has held many executive positions. He is taking over from part Johnson of York County. At the county meet- ing, Jim gave a speech of his gratitude to the Junior Farmers for their, continued support throughout the years At this meeting, Rick Archambault was voted in as the Provincial Director with Dixie Cameron the Alternate Director, It was also announced that Sharon Col- dough of the South Huron Junior Farmers was selected as one of the winners to participate on the trip to Saskatchewan. Presently Brian Miller is in Paris, France at the Secbnd World. Conference. Upcoming events were then discussed and include: Huron County Junior Farmer Semi Formal at Exeter Recreation Centre on April 6, at which time the County King and. Queen Competition will take place. Everyone is welcome to attend this event. On April 14, the Howick Community Centre will be the site for the Howick Junior Farmers' dance, =isle, by "Feelings". Seaforth Junior Farmers will be holding a Farms dance on April 27 at the arena with music by the band "I3y Special Appointment". . The market at Brussels Stockyards on Friday was very active on a heavy supply of cattle and pigs. Steers and pigs traded higher, Heifers were steady. Heavily- manured cattle were dis- counted. There were 1187 cattle and 1958 pigs on offer. Choice Steers - 83.00 to 86.00 with sales to 88.25. Good Steers - 81.00 to 83.00.
