A pot luck dinner preceded
the annual meeting of Knox
Presbyterian Church, Cran-
brook last Wednesday. Rev.
Dr. J.K. Ross Thomson pre-
sided and opened the meet-
ing with a Scripture reading,
meditation and prayer.
Mrs. Stuart Stevenson was
appointed secretary and read
the minutes of the last an-
nual meeting and special
meetings. The printed re-
ports were in the hands of
the members and were
reviewed. Elected to the
Board of Managers were
Stanley Fischer, Jack Knight
and Wilfred Strikler. John A.
Perrie and Leslie Knight are
the trustees and Mrs. Stuart
McNair, the auditor. Ushers
remain the same.
It was agreed to ask Pres-
bytery for permission to use
the proceeds from the sale of
the manse to do necessary
renovating on the church
building. John M. Perrie,
chairman of the. Board of
Managers reported on esti-
mates for church roof, insu-
lation, classrooms and wash-
room facilities.
The meeting was adjourn-
ed and Dr. Thomson closed
with prayer.
Friends and relatives of
Laurie Bragg gathered in the
Community Centre on Tues-
day night to honour the bride
to be. A few contests were
conducted by Nancy Vanass
followed by an address read
by Laurie Traves. Laurie
then opened the gifts assis-
ted by her mother, Mrs.
Harold Bragg, and her sister
Christine. The bride thanked
everyone and lunch was
served.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn
visited recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Muchan at London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Strickler attended a 50th
wedding anniversary for Mr.
and Mrs. George Strickler on.
Saturday night, February 3,
at Drumbo Agricultural Hall
and were overnight guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Stan
Strickler at Innerkip.
The Canadian Order of
Forresters are sponsoring
another card party on Friday
evening February 9 at 8:30 in
the Cranbrook Community
Centre when proceeds are for
Cancer Research.
The February meeting of
the Cranbrook W.Iwasheld
at the home of Mrs. Work-
man. Vice-president Mrs. G.
Engel presided.
Following the opening, a
letter from Mrs. Diamond,
president of F.W.I.O was
read. Mrs. Engel gave a
report from the District Plan-
ning meeting, which said
that the District Annual
would be held in May with
Fordwich hosting. Cranbrook
is to be responsible for the
entertainment in the morn-

Cranbrook church to be renovated

Cranbrook branch concern-
ing the dinner of luncheon
for the District Annuals in
the future. The general
opinion of the group was to
support a pot luck lunch.
A letter concerning Of-
ficer's Conference was read
and it was decided that the
pooling fee be sent. Mrs. Cox
said that the Institute had
been asked to cater on April
28th to Hugh. Crawford's
sit-down wedding supper. It
was decided to cater with the
Institute's previous con-
ditions imposed. Mrs.
Vanass asked if the Institute
would donate a prize to the
next card party in which the
proceeds would be forwarded
to the Cancer Fund sponsor-
ed by the Forresters. The
Institute decided to donate
$3.00 towards the Forresters
for a prize.
Mrs. Veitch read the motto
- What is our generation
leaving for the future of our
country? Mrs. Steffler gave a
few "smiles." The topic,
prepared by Mrs. L. Knight
and read by Mrs. Workman
was "Should Canada open
her doors to all nationalities?
This brought many re-
sponses from everyone pres-
ent. Mrs. Conley read a
"smile". Some current
events were given by Mrs.
Veitch.
The meeting was closed
and lunch was served by
Mrs. Vanass, Mrs. H. Smith
and the hostess Mrs. Work- .
