NIGHTS ALL YEAR The Hensali Sherwoods gained three of a possible four points in South Huron intermedite hockey league action this week. Wednesday night at the Huron Park arena, the Sherwoods doubled the score 10-5 on the Centralia College Saints and Thursday back in Hensail they bounced back with two late third period goals to gain a 7-7 tie with Kettle Point. Brian Campbell scored the tying goal against Kettle Point with only 23 seconds left in the third period on a combination with Bill Chipchase and Fred Camp­ bell. Only 49 seconds earlier Steve Knight put the puck into the Kettle Point net on passes from Bill Chipchase and Brian Campbell to put his club in the position to get the equalizer. Hensali took a 3-1 lead after the first period of play on successful shots by Al Taylor, Steve Knight and Rick Ingram. Brian Camp­ bell and Gary Kyle provided passes for two of the scores and a single assist went to Bill Chipchase. In the middle frame Kettle Point outscored Hensali three goal to two and cut the home team margin to a single goal. Steve Knight was the first marksman on a three-way effort with Bill Chipchase and Bryan Baker while Larry Bourne converted a pass from captain Gary Kyle. In the third period, Kettle Point scored three straight goals to take a two goal edge on the scoreboard and set the stage for the two final quick Sherwood scores good for the tie. and were able to stay in front for the balance of the game. The College club rallied for the only two goals of the middle session and the first of the third period to get within one of the Sherwoods, but, that was as close as they could get. Allan Taylor scored two of the first period Hensali markers and single scores were added by Rick Ingram, Brian Campbell' and Dan Taylor. Bill Chipchase and Fred Campbell each picked up two assists andDan Crerar helped on one goal. The only first period CCAT score came from the stick of Murray Connolly on a pass from Kyle Pederson. The second period was scoreless until the final five minutes when the Saints hit for two goals. Brian Gilpin completed a three-way passing effort with John Nyonhois and Rick Vanos and then popped in a pass from Marty Becker. At the .51 second mark of the closing period, Rick Vanos hit for the College on passes from captain Glen Weitzel and Brian Gilpin to . cut the Hensail margin to 5-4. With less then 16 minutes left the Sherwoods moved into high gear and five ferent players hit scoreboard to clinch verdict. The fifth and final goal for CCAT was shot by Harry Holman on an unassisted effort with only a minute and eight seconds remaining. The Sherwoods will be back in action tonight, Thursday at the Hensali Community Centre when they play host to Thedford. Game time is 8 p.m., - Monday, the Sherwoods travel to Goderich. Hensali Legion plans Christmas season events Minors post wins again The Hensali Bantam hockey team is off to an excellent start after the first two weeks of the schedule. Playing their first game in the new arena the boys treated- the fans to an ex­ citing 4-3 victory against Alma Logan. Zurich proved to be a tough opponent in the next two games. The scores were 6-6 and 7-6 for Zurich, Saturday in Huron Park after Hensali spotted them a 4-1 lead they went on to win 7- 5. Goal getters for that game were Jamie McClinchey with three and Paul Smale and Jeff Rowe with two each. The boys play their home games Tuesday nights and would appreciate your & support. Juveniles tie third in a row Hensali Juveniles played to a 2-2 tie Sunday night against the Milverton Juveniles. It was the third tie Sin as many games. Hensali is now in a tie for first place with the Kurtzville team. Milverton opened the scoring three minute into the w game. They then scored again early in the second •TV period to make it 2-0. Steve Sararas played a strong game as usual to keep his goal average below two goals. Hensali branch 468 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion have planned several events for the Christmas season. There will be public skating for all age groups from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December 9 and 16, spon­ sored by the Legion and Auxiliary. December 3 members of the legion and the Ladies Auxiliary are planning to visit the patients at the Queensway Nursing Home to entertain them with Christmas party. The Christmas party for members’ children will held in the Legion Hall, Hensali at,2 p.m. December 10. in Mission British Columbia. Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Cud- more were recent visitors with their daughter Mrs. W. MacDonald in Brampton. Mr. Jack Corbett is a- patient in Victoria Hospital, London where he is un­ dergoing treatment. Mr. & Mrs. Brian Collins, Sarah and Jeffrey of Waterloo spent Sunday with the latter’s mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. Anyone having tickets on the Senior Citizens quilt are asked to hand them in to Mrs. Ruby Bell or Mrs. Perc Campbell by December I. The draw will be made at the Seniors’ Christmas party December 12. Cancer society has meeting The Huron County Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society held its fall meeting on Monday November 20 at the Wesley Willis Church in Clinton. There were 22 members and friends in attendance representing Seaforth, Exeter, Goderich and the Clinton branch. The Wingham branch had no one present. Church service Rev. Hugh Davidson of Listowel conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ and led the choir in the anthem “Wonderful Words of Life”.
