Piano provides
happy sounds
The new clubroom rang
with the sound of happy,
singing voices, at the
meeting of the Sunshine and
Busy Buddies groups
Thursday afternoon when
the newly-purchased piano
was put to good use, by Dora
Thompson and Muriel
Cobleigh.
With the President Mary
Koohy, presiding, letters
were read from the Beaver
Colony leaders and the
minor hockey league
executive, asking for
assistance with the children
in each group.
Cards of thanks were read
from Kay Neil and Gordon
Hotson. The treasurer, J,
Alex Young, gave his
monthly financial report
which showed that the club is
quite solvent.
Following a report by
Edythe Murdy regarding
catering for the Christmas
party, a "show-of-hands
vote” favoured the
Shillelagh. The dinner will be
served in the downstair room
at 1 p.m., Thursday,
December 14. Members are
asked to be prepared to get
their tickets for the dinner
and for the Simcoe trip
within the next two weeks.
Birthday greetings were
extended to Iola Goring,
Winnifred Jolliffe and
Elnora Raycraft. The
president asked each
member to try to bring a
card for Lon Phillips as he
will be celebrating his 95th
birthday, today, Thursday.
Euchre was enjoyed by
members of the Sunshine
Group with winners as
follows: Lady’s high,
Kathleen Neil; lone hands,
Margaret Allen; low, Anne
Kish; man’s high, Marjorie
Steeper, playing a man’s
card; lone hands, Alex
Young; low, Lon Phillips.
The Busy Buddies con
tinued the "Papier Tole” and
Ceramics crafts. Lunch was
provided and served by
Mildred Hirtzel, Roeola
Hotson, Iva and Murray
Hodgins.
