Times-Advocate, 1978-11-09, Page 8Page 8 Times-Advocate, November 9,1978 Clandeboye woman passes in Chatham CLANDEBOYE Mrs. Bertha Henry, a resi­ dent of this community for most of her life, died in the Chatham General Hospital Friday, in her 87th year .For the last few years she had lived with her daughter, Inez, Mrs. Bill Downing of Chatham. The funeral was Monday from the Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan, with Inter­ ment in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. The St. James A.C.W., of which Mrs. Henry was a former active member for many years, served lunch follow­ ing the funeral. At Institute Convention Mrs. Harold Hardy and Mrs. Art Hodgins attended the London Area Women’s Institute Annual Convention on Wednesday and Thursday held at the Banqueter, south of London. The theme for the conven­ tion was, “The Family in our Changing Society.” At the banquet, Wednesday evening, the guest speaker, Miss Angela Armitt, Head of Extension, University of Western Ontario, spoke on “Communication”. The entertainment was by the Sweet Adelines double quartet of London. During the evening, scholarship presentations were made. One went to Anne Steeper of Corbett who is also the Middlesex Farm Show Princess for 1978. The Clandeboye Women’s Institute is sponsoring “Luncheon is Served” November 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the United Church. Tickets are available from all the members so come out and enjoy a family meal together. This invitation is open to all in the communi­ ty, not just W.I. members. Mrs. Ethel Donaldson had most of her family together for a reunion Sun­ day. Bill and Marilyn Dixon and boys entertained Sunday in honour of Bill’s father, Wilfred Dixon who was celebrating his birthday. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Dixon, Shirley and Tony Martene and-fami- ly, Mary and Jack Hogan and girls of Dashwood, Pauline Miller and family of Zurich, Christine and Mike Hogan of Mount Carmel, Labelle Dixon of Claresholm, Alberta and George Dixon of Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Armstrong and Michael attended Medway High School commencement ex­ ercises Friday evening. Michael received his Secon­ dary School graduation diploma.
