Devotions were conducted by Mrs. Cliff Russell, Mrs. Harold Fahner and Ella Morlock. Mrs. Russell led in prayer, read the Scripture, an article on sharing and a poem on Thanksgiving. Mrs. Fahner and Ella Morlock presented a play “Take Time.’’ Thanksgiving hymns were sung with Mrs. Gordon Fink­ beiner at the piano. Roll call was answered by naming something for which one was thankful. A used clothing drive and a bakeless bake sale are being con­ ducted during the month of October. A bake sale poem, composed by Mrs. Bruce Pierce is being distributed to members of the congregation. A sum of money was voted to the current fund of the church. Seniors on trip Mrs. Alwinna Galloway, Mrs. Leita Hill, Mrs. Green and Mr. & Mrs. Lome Fink- beiner joined the four-day Senior Citizens’ colour tour arranged by the Dashwood Seniors. They passed through Beaver Valley, Walkerton, Collingwoo.d and Bracebridge on their way to Gravenhurst, where they boarded a boat for a cruise on one of the Muskoka lakes. They proceeded to Hunt­ sville, Pembroke and Ottawa. At Pembroke Mr. & Mrs. Finkbeiner had a joyful reunion with their grandson andhiswife Mr. & Mrs. Robin Lambie. In Ottawa they had a fine tour of the city, viewing the parliament buildings and the homes of government of­ ficials. The next overnight stop was Gananoque whence they enjoyed another boat trip through the Thousand Islands. English Memento Alf Smith, one of the village trustees received a handbook prepared for visitors to the St. Boniface celebrations in Crediton, England, Saturday, June 3, 1978. St. Boniface, patron saint of Crediton, his bir­ thplace in 680, is remem­ bered by the Society of St. Boniface of Crediton, formed 1956 to spread the saint’s fame throughout the world. 1980 is to be a year of special celebration, marking the 1300th anniversary of St. Boniface. Mrs. Jack lips hall had the Worship on Thanksgiving “Thank You God For Life.” Invitations were accepted to Elimville, October 25 at 8 p.m. and the Arnold Circle Evening November 7 at 8 p.m. The Regional meeting will be held at Chiselhurst United Church October 17 at 9:30 a.m. Plans were made for the Bazaar November 1 at 3 p.m. Mrs. Richard Taylor gave the study based on “Caribbean Theology,” Mrs. Freda Boa gave a reading “Thanksgiving” and the program closed with the Lord’s Prayer. The hostesses were Mrs. Freda Boa and Mrs. Earl Kinsman. Jr. Past Noble Grand Mrs. Maggie Camp­ bell presented the D.D.P. with a gift and R.S.N.G, Mrs. Dorothy Parker presented the Jr. Past Noble Grand with a gift. During the entertainment Mrs. Isobel Rogerson favoured with piano numbers- and Mrs. Evelyn McBeath gave a reading. A social hour was enjoyed -in the lower hall and refresh­ ments were served. Hensall 4-H club 1 met on Tuesdaynight, October 3. The girls assembled in the kitchen and the leader, Diane Gerstenkorn, . made Energy Squares and Peanut Butter Bread. Next, a simple test was done and after Trudy Ferguson read the minutes, it was decided to call the club, “The Cookie Monsters.” The Energy Cookies and the Peanut Butter Bread were tasted and then lesson two in the books was done. Hensall 4-H club 3 met for their third meeting at the home of Betty Beer on Monday, October 2, The club name was picked; the “Granola Bar Maids.” Meeting three in the books was completed and the leaders made peanut butter and carrot spread and thick and thin white sauces. With the thick sauce, potato cheese chowder was made. A discussion on the covers for the books followed. The second meeting of the Hensall two 4-H club was held at the Hensall United Church on Tuesday, October 3. The meeting opened with the pledge and a discussion , on the meeting took place. In the kitchen we made Energy Squares and Peanut Butter Bread; measurements were all in metric measures. After the baking was finished it was stored for future meetings. Conducts service Rev. A. Young of Goderich conducted Thanksgiving service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ and led the choir in the anthem “Prayer of Thanksgiving”. The Sunday School members were presented with their diplomas and seals. There will be no service of worship next Sunday in Carmel Church owing to the an­ niversary service in Caven Presbyterian Cnurch, Exeter. English visiter Patricia King, of Surrey, England is this week with her Miss Sutton, visiting aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Payne.
