T-A photo Clandeboye Wl enjoy trip but couldn't go to the dogs By MRS. ARTHUR HODGINS CLANDEBOYE The Clandeboye Women’s Institute sponsored a bus trip to Detroit, Wednesday. Previous plans were to visit the School for Leader Dogs at Rochester, Michigan but on Tuesday while checking on reservations, found out they were no longer ac­ cepting bus tours and refused to accept us, regardless of reservations made in May. Rather than cancel the bus trip it was decided to go to the Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. We stopped at the LeeWard Craft store for an hour and the Eastland shopping mall for our sup­ per, returning home by'8.30 p.m. Peter McNaughton, as bus driver, in his jolly and capable manner, helped to make the day a very pleasant one. Mrs. Roy Cunningham, convener of Education and Cultural Activities was in charge of the trip. Murray Thompson has returned home from University Hospital. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Armstrong and Bob in the loss of their husband and father, Wm. Armstrong, who died suddenly Tuesday evening, at his home on Concession 2, McGillivray. Carolyn Hardy and Mary Lou Michaels travelled to Collingwood and Midland Sunday and Monday to view the fall colours. They were surprised to see snow covered fields in that area. The Young people’s class tastefully decorated the sanctuary of the church, Sunday morning with fruits and vegetables, there were also two pots of yellow mums. Mr. Ross Hargreaves had as his sermon - “Sincere Gratitude”. Rev. Bert Daynard of Staffa was in charge of the Communion service. There will be no Sunday School Sunday October 15, owing to the church an­ niversary. This program will also con­ tribute to a more efficient re-use of our natural resources. In order to make the program as effective as possible, please use the following guide when preparing your newspapers and glass: 1. Tie paper with string or place in heavy brown grocery bags or corrugated boxes. 2. Please do not place newspapers in green garbage bags or pails. 3. Each bundle should be easy to handle and free of any wire or plastics, magazines may be in­ cluded. 4. Remove all metal tops from all glass containers and place them in corrugated boxes, heavy brown paper grocery bags or garbage bags. 5. Place all recyclable newspapers and glass in a separate pile from the special items for pick up. Please start saving your glass and newspapers. The program will commence: Thursday, November 2, 1978 on the west side of Town. Thursday, November 9, 1978 on the east side of Town. The Schedule will hereafter run: first Thursday of each month on the west side of Town second Thursday of each month on the east side of Town.
