Further plans were discussed for the en­ tertainment of the groups from Ailsa Craig, Granton and liderton, Wednesday, October 18, in the Lucan School, at 7:15 to see the 3M Minstrel show from 7:30 to 8:30 with cards and lunch to follow. Birthday greetings were extended to Ed Dowdell and Jean Miller. Later in October the second class of ceramics will commence. In November or December classes in flower arranging will be offered with Mrs. G. Nicholson as instructor. The Lucan No. 2. team To design 4-H covers Members of the first 4H Club of Lucan under the leadership of Mrs. Fred Cowdrey and assistant Miss Bev Huffman held their opening meeting at the home of the former Tuesday evening with 13 members registering. The election resulted as president, Bakker; secretary for this meeting Lauri Burns; press reporter, Cynthia Bakker. Beth Arthurs and Lauri Burns were chosen to design the cover for the club project manuals. The leaders advised of the canvas and wool required for this project and the girls began to outline the canvas into six squares for coasters. The next three meetings will be held at the Masonic Hall, in the lower room, and three Institute members will be present to assist the leaders. Needlepoint 4-H topic Members of the Lucan 2 4H Club met at the home of the leader Mrs. Adrian de Brouwer Sunday afternoon for their first meeting. Tlie election of officers was held resulting as follows; president Karen VanderLoo; vice-president Rosemary Boland. There is to be a rotating secretary and the press reporter is Janet VanderLoo. The leaders discussed the types of canvas and the wool for needlepoint and the girls made up their own colour schemes. Members were advised of the change in the type of records to be kept in this project. An invitation was issued to all women of the community to hear Mrs. Lillian Dixon of the Mustard Seed Mission October 18 at 7:45 p.m. in liderton United Church. The General meeting of the U.C.W. was announced for Tuesday, October 10. when members will hear “first-hand” of Trinidad as Mr. & Mrs. Alf Williams will be special guests. Mrs. Lockyer led in worship, assisted by Mrs. Sheridan Revington with Mrs. D. M. Thompson at the piano. The program was in charge of Mrs. Keith Brown and Mrs. M. H. Hodgins who conducted the final session on the Study Pack on Trinidad. The roll call was “A Fact about Trinidad” and many interesting points were brought out. Mrs. Brown gave an in­ teresting review of the history of the Christian Church since the islands discovery by Columbus up to the present time which was followed by an interview given a few years ago bet­ ween The Rev. As the result of a quick poll by the T-A at Tuesday’s regular meeting of council, reeve Ivan Hearn and councillors Harry Wraith, Norm Steeper and Larry Hotson said they “would likely be available." The other present member of council Gary McFalls was non-committal saying, “I will have to think about it.” Nominations for all council and Public Utility Com­ mission positions will be accepted at the village office during regular office hours from October elusive. Cec and Larry Lewis of G.H. Lewis Ltd. requested small increases in both residential and commercial categories saying they were within inflation rates. If the new agreement is accepted the residential rate would increase by 25 cents to $2.85 per month and com­ mercial would rise 75 to $5.50 per month. Cec Lewis said it about 10 hours per day for two men to complete one pickup. He added, "Our cost of wages and equipment is about $30 per hour. The average cost for keeping up a landfill site is $7 per ton.
