Slight rise
in garbage
Operators of the garbage
pickup service in Lucan
presented a tentative
agreement for 1979 to council
Tuesday night.
Cec and Larry Lewis of
G.H. Lewis Ltd. requested
small increases in both
residential and commercial
categories saying they were
within inflation rates.
If the new agreement is
accepted the residential rate
would increase by 25 cents to
$2.85 per month and com
mercial would rise 75
to $5.50 per month.
Cec Lewis said it
about 10 hours per day for
two men to complete one
pickup. He added, "Our cost
of wages and equipment is
about $30 per hour. The
average cost for keeping up
a landfill site is $7 per ton.
The yearly Lucan total is
1,117 tons.”
The final decision on the
request for an increase will
be left until a new council
takes office early in
December.
