Susan Gebel and Barbara England entertained their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Gebel and Mr. and Mrs, Tom England to dinner Saturday evening at their new apartment in London. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Raycraft returned Monday from a three week visit with the latter’s brother, Wilfred Haslip at Salter’s Lake near North Bay. Judi Henry has accepted a part time teaching position at the Robarts School Regional Centre for the Hearing and Handicapped in London. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lynn and family attended the 25th wedding anniversary of their sister and brother-in-law, Clarise and Harry Hern of Zion, held Friday night at the K-W Community Centre. The Clandeboye Women’s Institute are selling tickets on a 24inch pine cone wreath that was made and donated by Mrs. Art Hodgins to raise money for the Institute. The draw will be made at the Craft Show, October 14, in the Lucan Community Cen­ tre. Catherine, Cheryl and Bon­ nie Lynn sang, accompanied by Helen Brown. A contest oh T.V. and radio commer­ cials was conducted by Irene Lynn and a reading on “Marriage” by Betty Coughlin. Mr. & Mrs. George Prest visited with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Fenton and family of Belgrave after attending the Wingham plowing match. Rev. Harold Snell, Exeter assisted Sunday in the United Church, Brinsley by having the Communion and Baptismal service. Mary Ann Gladys daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jim McDonald Hensail was christened. Several families from this area attended the plowing match at Wingham this week. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Morley visited with Mrs. Violet Allison and Kathleen Morley Sunday. Bruce discharged from recuperating at Mrs. Olive Baker, Grand Bend was guest at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Howard Lightfoot. The family of Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bowers arranged a celebration in honour of their parents’15th wedding an­ niversary. Sunday afternoon there was Open House in the Crediton Community Centre. Sunday evening there was a dinner at the Four Way Inn, Exeter. Besides members of the family, guests at the dinner included Mr. & Mrs. Bill Johnson, Stoney Creek, Mr. & Mrs. Zachar, Exeter, and Mrs. Rose Trumbull and Debbie, London. His father Pierce hospital is his home. Veteran T~A correspondent Saintsbury couple mark 50th anniversary By MRS. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were honoured by their family Sunday on the 50th anniversary of their marriage. The marriage took place October 3, 1928 at the Anglican Rectory Kirkton by Rev. R. Bueteel now retired in B.C. Mrs. Davis was the former Mary Dickens. They have three daughters Mrs. Jim (Janett) Barker, Mrs. Earl (Marguerite) Greenlee, Mrs. Robt (Alexia) Tindall, one son, Hugh on the home place and the late Mrs. Jim (Almarie) Young, Lucan. They have 11 grand­ children and five great grandchildren. Forty-six relatives and friends sat down to dinner at the Garage Restaurant, London, at noon. Mrs. Harry Carroll bridesmaid of fifty years ago was present. Hugh asked the blessing and proposed a toast to his parents. Heber and Mary responded briefly and a reception followed in the Parish Hall, St. Patrick’s, Saintsbury, which was tastefully decorated. Friends, children and grandchildren served refreshments. Mrs. Mervin Elston, Centralia, Heber’s sister, Mrs. Earl Atkinson, Lucan, Marys sister, Mrs. Flossy Dickins, London and Mrs. John McCool, Traverse City, Michigan, poured tea. Master welcomed looked after the guest book. In the absence of the late Albert Dickins, groomsman of fifty years ago, Mr. Harry Carroll was asked to assist the groom. There were over 300 guests attended the reception. Robt Tindall the guests and Personals Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee are 30 years married on October 2 and were remembered with gifts and cards. Mr. & Mrs. John McCool, Traverse City, Michigan, and Mrs. Anah Stelzer, Florida attended the an­ niversary and were dinner guests Saturday evening as well as Mr. & Mrs. Earl Atkinson, Lucan and Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis with Mr, & Mrs. Mr. & Mrs. Ford Dyer, Sarnia were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Car roll and girls. Miss Nancy Tindall, Belgian Queen, was sponsored by the Belgian Draft horse association and Stewart’s Seeds at the International Plowing Match last week. She and her sister Marylou stayed at the home of Mrs. Verna Brown, Wingham at night. Mr. & Mrs. Laverne Allison, West MacGillivray and Mrs. Fred Dobbs and Mrs. Martin Van Arenthal called on Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis, Monday evening. Mr. & Mrs. John McCool and Mrs. Anah Stelzer and Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were dinner guests with Mr, Earl Atkinson, Lucan, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Greenlee were guests at a dinner and dance held in the Forest arena Saturday evening. It was to honour Mr. Harry Noels, Grand Master of the Oddfellow’s Lodge of Ontario. NOMINATE CLERIC Rev. John Davies, 64, retired minister of Parkview United Church, Stratford will be the New Democratic Party’s candidate in Perth riding for the federal elec­ tion expected next spring. He will try to unseat MP.
