After registration and greetings sports were conducted by Mr. & Mrs. Bill Weigand and Mr. & Mrs. Fred Negrijn. Results of races were: Preschool - David Negrijn and Michelle Stever; Ages 6-7 - Jeff Keller; 8&9 - Ross Keller; 10 & 11 - Warren Keller and Carolyn Stever; 12 and up - Barb Rowse, Fred Miller. In the land skiing skill: Elgin Keller, Randy Keller, Jaimie Keller, Russel Gibson. In the guessing contest: macaroni in jar, Mrs. Harvey Hohner; nails in jar, Fred Miller. There were also relays, scrambles and grocery toss. The oldest lady present was Mrs. Victor Deichert and the oldest gentleman was Mr. Peter Deichert. Bryan Negrijn was the youngest baby. After sports a delicious pot luck supper was enjoyed with Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Eichler and Mr. & Mrs. Albert Deichert in charge of refreshments and tables. Following supper a short business meeting was conducted by vice-president Ron Deichert. He reported interesting information about the Deichert clan prior to the life of Peter Deichert Sr. He also reported two deaths, James Learn, son of Mr. & Mrs. Max Learn and Edgar Elligsen. Babies were born to Mr. & Mrs. Harold Merner (daughter) and Mr. & Mrs. Fred Negrijn (son). New officers for 1978-79 were elected as follows: President: Ron Deichert, Vice-president: Ken Keller, Secretary: Virginia Stever, Treasurer: Claire Deichert, Sports: Mr, & Mrs. Elgin Keller and Mr. & Mrs. Fred Deichert: Lunch Com­ mittee: Mr. & Mrs. Roland Gibson and Mr. & Mrs. Keith Keller. Chief Historian: Mr. Albert Deichert with Mr. Peter Deichert as assistant. Plans are to hold the 1979 picnic on July 15 at the Dash­ wood Community Centre. Completing the scoring list were Gary Koehler at 16 and Tim Lovell with 15. ♦ Needed BE A BLOOD ZDONOR Mrs. Annie Noakes celebrated her 80th birthday Friday August 4 and at­ tended the wedding of her grand-son Robert Noakes and Lorraine Staples in Seaforth in the evening. Mrs. Noakes enjoys very good health and plans a trip to the East Coast in the future. ■ She received many cards and gifts and her grand­ daughter Brenda Noakes of London and her grand-son and Mr. & Mrs. David Noakes and Jeffrey of Guelph spent the occasion with her. Mrs. Frances Seimon telephoned her mother from California to wish her greetings. Mr. & Mrs. Allan Busche and family of Dorchester and Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Horton of Brucefield and family visited over the holiday with their parents Mr. & Mrs. Bert Horton and celebrated their father’s birthday. The auction sale held at the farm of Mr.- & Mrs. Ed Schroeder on Monday, Civic Holiday was largely at­ tended with many Collec­ tors in attendance. Messrs. Hector McNeill and Percy Wright were the auctioneers. The dishes and antiques brought excellent prices. Oliver Bedard, Sarnia visited with his sister and her husband, Mr. & Mrs. Sam Oesch last Thursday. Victoria Bisback spent the week end with her grand parents, Dr. & Mrs. Roger Whitman of Seaforth at their cottage at Selkirk. Menno Hofftra of Holland has been visiting with his sister and family Mr. & Mrs. John Groot. Mr. & Mrs. James Cerney and family of London visited with the latter’s brother. Lloyd Regier and family and with other relatives and friends over the week end. Joan Dodds, Seaforth, Mary Hunt, Walton and Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol all at­ tended the 87th birthday of Mrs. J.M. Glenn in Exeter last week. . Joan Dodds, Seaforth and Mary Hunt, Walton, spent a few days last week with the former’s grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol. While here they all visited with Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Van Dyke and family in Atwood. Ernie Davis underwent Joseph’s recently surgery in St. Hospital London and it is hoped that he will be returning home soon, Paul Dodds, Seaforth, spent the holiday week end with his grand parents, Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol. More new residents in Elizabeth Court are Mr. & Mrs. Gerry Labadie from London, Mr. & Mrs. Ken McLean from Vanastra and Mr. Tom Kelly from Goderich. We welcome them all to Hensail. Fund raising efforts for the new Co-operative Nursery School in Hensail are con­ tinuing with a bake sale to be held on August 19 at Pine Lake, Bayfield. The last bake sale in Hensail raised over $200. Donations of suitable toys for a nursery school would be appreciated. There will also be a draw at the end of September for a grocery voucher, value $100. Have you read any good books lately? The Hensail library has an excellent new selection available. Retiring banker feted by friends A most enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther, Wed­ nesday when the Staff, husbands and wives of the Bank of Montreal assembled to honour Ron Sakkal, ad- minstration manager who has been transferred to Alliston. During the evening Mr. Luther presented Ron with a gift for which Ron expressed sincere thanks.
