Swim Pool and went by
Gondola up the Mountain for
a view of the beautiful
scenery and mountain goats.
Lake Louise and Golden
were the next points of in
terest and they were im
pressed with the fruit
growing districts of the
Okanagan Valley.
From Vancouver they
travelled by ferry to Victoria
and on to Courtenay where
they enjoyed a two day visit
with Mr. & Mrs. Richard
Waite and Tracy.
They took pictures at
Courtenay of black bears
only 15 feet from them. Mr.
Bickell succeeded in cat
ching a large salmon on a
fishing trip out on the bay.
Butchart Gardens was one of
the beauty spots of the
island.
They toured Vancouver by
bus and visited beautiful
Queen Elizabeth Park and
Bloedel Conservatory, all air
conditioned, with a profusion
of tropical plants, foliages
and birds. They returned
home through Jasper,
Edmonton and by the M.S.
Chi-Cheemaun.

over the holiday week end
with the former’s parents,
Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Morgan.
This week, Mr. & Mrs.
Morgan have as visitors two
of their grandchildren, Jeff
and Lori Miller of Woodham.

Mr. & Mrs. Jack Essery
and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Bickell
have just returned from a
three week’s holiday by
motor van through Western
Canada to Victoria. They
visited with Jack and Grace
Switzer at Crystal Beach
near Atikokan Ontario, also
with Kyle Chesney at Cart
wright, Manitoba.
Mr. Chesney took them to
see the Peace Gardens half
of which is situated in
Boissevain Manitoba and the
other half in Dunseith, North
Dakota. It is a beautiful
large park and garden.
The Chapel on Canadian
land was built by the General
Grand Chapter of the
Eastern Star with a fountain
and lovely organ and
quotations on plaques by
both Manitoba and North
Dakota Chapters from a
number of Presidents,
M.P.’s and Statesmen.
They also visited the
historical buildings at the old
Fort in Fort McLeod and
called on James Switzer.

The Andrew Hodgert
branch of the Hodgert clan
gathered at the home of Reg
and Jean Hodgert Sunday
morning for their annual
golf tournament. The game
was played at the Exeter golf
course, then 40 members
returned to the home for a
smorgasbord dinner.
The trophy was presented
by Lillian Hodgert to the
foursome of Allan Lux ton,
Brenda MacLean, Rick
Parker, John Miner. Men’s
low gross went to Brian
Hodgert and ladies low was a
tie between Florence
Hodgertand Lillian Hodgert.
A gift was presented to Mr.
& Mrs. Ed Sutherland (nee
Etta Hodgert) on behalf of
the clan honouring their
recent marriage.
