The only win for St, Marys
came in the pee wee contest
by a score of 3-1.

It occurred at 6.30 a.m.
Wednesday when a transport
driven by Robert George
Howsam, Sarnia struck the
curb at the junction of High
way 7 and County road 23
and rolled over.
Constable G.N. Wilcox was
the investigating officer.
Constable W.T. Hodgins
set damages at $1,550 when
vehicles driven by Stjepan
Rathaj/and Lyn McMahon,
both of London collided at
1.40 p.m. Saturday on High
way 7, west of the London-
East Williams townline.
Thursday, a vehicle driven
by Peter Hefkey, London left
the roadway of Highway 4,
south road 16 and struck a
mailbox and tree. Constable
N.A. Campbell listed
damages at $2,000.

vehicles driven by Stanislay
Frankovic, London and
Norman Hodgins, St. Marys
collided on Highway 7, east
of County road 23.

Women held their June
meeting in the C. E. Wing
Tuesday evening with
president Marjorie Park
presiding.
A letter was read from the
Service to Patients com
mittee of the Canadian
Cancer Society thanking
members for their donations
to the “Gift Cupboard”, and
confirmation of the chicken
barbecue date of Wed
nesday, September 20, was
made by the suppliers.
A further donation was
made to “Camp Kee-Mo-
Kee” and Donna Van
Arenthals reported on the
changes in the “Live-Love
Projects”.
The committee for the fair
booth was added to and now
is comprised of Irene and
Gwen Lynn from Clan-
deboye- UCW, Shirley Ryan,
Honor Stanley, Marguerite
McRoberts and the
president, from Lucan. All
proceeds from the booth will
go into the “Manse Fund”.

told of their work in Angola
from 1956-60.
They also brought the
political situation up-to-date
telling of the great per
secution of Christians in
Angola by the present
regime. A very meaningful
worship service had been
prepared by Freeda
Melanson who was assisted
by Mabel Froats and Iva
Hodgins, all of the Evening
Unit.

Unit, and the choir, sang a
lovely duet “Day by Day”.

and Busy Buddies groups
met Thursday afternoon in
the Masonic Hall with
president Gordon Hotson in
charge of the brief business
meeting.
The Granton W.I. bus trips
were announced for July 6 to
the Owen Sound district and
in August to the Blyth
Festival. Members who are
interested should contact
Mrs. Clarence Lewis at once.
Today, Thursday, is the
deadline for members to sign
up for the show “Oklahoma”
as following this meeting any
tickets left 'will be available
to non-members.
An invitation was read for
all members to attend the
90th birthday “Open House”
reception for Mary Hodgson
in the United Church C.E.

The Sacrament of Holy
Communion was celebrated
in Lucan United Church on
Sunday when Rev. Keith
Brown spoke on “Our Father
Which Art in Heaven”, a
sermon for “Father’s Day”.
Mr. Brown told the
congregation that “our
Father” in one form or
another is mentioned 150
times in the Bible. He said
“A good father is a tower of
strength ... but the wrong
kind of father can do great
damage to a child’s idea of
“Our Father”.
This morning, Thursday,
at 9:45 the “Prayer & Share
Fellowship” is meeting in
the C.E. Wing and tonight at
7 p.m. the Couples’ Club will
hold their barbecue at the
home of Mary and Dennis
Maguire. Members are
assked to note the change of
day.
Next Sunday, June 25 will
be Flower Sunday with the
Church School in charge. If
you have flowers you would
like to share, please bring
them to the Church by 7
p.m. Saturday evening, or
’phone 227-4714 on Friday for
“pick-up” Saturday a.m.
Next Tuesday members of
the Evening Unit will hold
their annual June outing,
meeting at the church at 5
p.m. proceeding to the “4-
Way” Restaurant in Exeter
for dinner, on to the Country
