ART HODGINS Mrs. Bruce Henry was hostess for the April meeting of the Clandeboye Women’s Institute. Mrs. Art Hodgins, presided. Mrs. Rea Neil read the scripture. The roll call was payment of fees which was raised to two dollars this year. In the business it was decided to make an autograph quilt as a money making project, also to order tickets for an evening at Huron County Playhouse in early August. A bus tour to the Erland Lee Home during Ontario W.I. week - June 5-9 and the Botanical Gardens at Hamilton, was discussed. Mrs. Harold Hardy, retiring secretary-treasurer will attend the Officers’ Con­ ference at Waterloo University May 2-3-4. The W.I. district annual will be held May 16 at Ailsa Craig United Church with Riverview Institute as hostess. Reports of the Saintsbury By MRS. HEBER DAVIS Misses Leisa Salvatori and Jocelyn Kennedy, Haliburton, exchange band students were guests with Misses Nancy and Marylou Tindall for three days last week. Nancy and Marylou played with the Medway band Tuesday evening at Sir Frederick Banting School, London at the Kiwanis Music festival. The band won first honours and the cup. Mr. & Mrs. Ford Dyer, Sarnia visited their daughter Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Carr oil and girls on the weekend and were dinner guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Car roll. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Barker and Jean held a birthday dinner Sunday evening for Mrs. Barker’s father, Heber Davis. He was observing his 80th birthday. Guests in­ cluded, Mrs. Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee, Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Young, Lucan, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Tindall and Robert, and Mrs. Gary Barker, Tom Richardson, Grand Bend. Later in the evening they were joined by eight grand­ children and friends and five great grandchildren. Michael Davis phoned from Tennessee to congratualte his grandfather. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Barnes, Sarnia were Monday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Tindall. Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were Monday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Earl Shoebottom, Ilderton. standing committees were given. The report of nominating committee was read and accepted. A social half-hour followed the meeting with lunch committee, Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Hodgins assisting hostess. 4-H News The 4-H Homemaking club kept their fifth meeting until last as it was a field trip. They enjoyed a visit to Eldon House in London where they received much historical information. The roll call was “One thing I hope to learn on this field trip.” This meeting completed their project and Achievement Day will be held in Parkhill, April 29. Personals Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Gebel and Susan were Mrs. K. Roberts, Rochester N.Y. and her sister Mrs. G. Bell of Koln, Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Raycraft returned Sunday from a two month vacation in California. Congratulations'. to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Millson on their 61st wedding an­ niversary April 18. Mr. Millson is enjoying good health but Mrs. Millson is a patient in Chateau Gardens Nursing Home, Parkhill. Happy birthday to Mrs. Russell Blake on her 85th birthday, April 26. Rea Neil was a $25 winner at Monte Carlo night held at the Lucan Community Centre, Saturday night. Mrs. Art Hodgins par­ ticipated in the hobby and craft show held in the Lucan Community Centre Satur­ day. She displayed the making of pine cone wreaths and centre pieces. Tickets sold on a centrepiece, made and donated by Mrs. Hodgins, and won by Angelina De Brower of Lucan, with proceeds going to the arena funds for playground equipment. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dixon and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family attended the operetta “Cool in the Furnace” presented by the Zion United Church choir on Sunday morning. After the service they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hern and family. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family attended “Open House” at Elmwood Ave. Presbyterian Church, held in honour of their very good friends, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Chalmers, London who were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. In the evening a family dinner for the Chalmers was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn. Trophies were presented by Clarence Rau and Arnold Taylor representatives of the Stanley township recreation committee. The champs were Jack and Lorraine Peck and James Wright and Brian Triebner, Second place team members were Don and Vina Brodie and Randy and Audry Collins, while Bob and Gail Turner and Gerald and Catherine Horton finished third. The consolation winning team was Ross and Donna McBeath and Bill and Marjorie Consitt.
