Members of the River
view W.I. are busy these
weeks as they prepare to
host the district annual
meeting on May 16. The
meeting will be held at Ailsa
Craig United Church.
Two special committees,
an arrangements and a
luncheon committee were
established at the meeting
held March 14 in preparation
for the event.
Mrs. Ann (Donaldson)
McLean, a former area girl,
was guest speaker at the
March meeting. Giving "a
talk and demonstration on
making hasti notes and pic
tures with dried flowers and
grasses, Mrs. McLean told
how she uses the pages of
the telephone book for press
ing flowers. She brought
along a display of her han-

living on a farm near
Springbank and working as
an R.N. part time. She was
thanked by Mrs. D. Hughes
for her talk, and presented
with a small gift in ap

the grocery shelf and my
reaction to it”, which
brought forth fhany in
teresting comments. A few
residents with a staff
member from Craigholme
Nursing Home were among
the guests at the meeting.

tor, Mrs. R. Neil reported on
the district meeting held at
the Coldstream Hall on
February 8th.
Short courses available
for members were outlined
by secretary, Mrs. S.
McCallum, with a course on
tailoring being selected for

L. Hughes read the scripture
and Mrs. Hilda Morton, took

It was reported that
members Martha Rees and

Eighty senior citizens from
the Ailsa Craig and district
were taken to the Ice
Capa des in London Thursday
by the local Lions Club. The
seniors gathered at the town
hall where two buses were
quickly filled and taken to
the London Gardens for an
evening long to be
remembered.
Over the past year the
Lions also- donated $500 to
Strathmere Lodge for a new
