Grades two. combined grades one and two and com­ bined grades two and three classes from Exeter Public School. Precious Blood, Stephen Central and Usborne Central Schools attended with about 70 children each afternoon. Mrs. R. Pooley was in charge of the tours with three tours each afternoon. Several members of the Auxiliary served cookies and orange-ade to the children in the Auxiliary rooms. The Hospital Gift Shop opened Thursday afternoon .and is to be open from 2 to 4 in the afternoons and from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evenings each day of the week. Aux­ iliary members will be in charge. Wood, Executive Director, Shepherds, Inc., will speak Thursday, May 24, 7:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Exeter. Dr. Wood has headed the Regular Baptist Agency for the Mentally Retarded since 1961. Under his direction Shepherds Home and School was organized in 1964. The Home, located in Union Grove, Wisconsin, serves 121 mentally retarded children and adults from all sections of the country. In addition to the Home and School, Shepherds is actively engaged in Sunday School programming for the mentally retarded in local churches. Hundreds of churches across America conduct Shepherds classes every Sunday. Shepherds publishes an excellent special education Sunday school curriculum. Dr. Wood has authored a widely used text on Sunday School for the mentally retarded. He holds many workshops designed to ‘ help Local churches establish these classes. Dr. Wood holds a B.A. degree from Bob Jones University, an M.A. in Special Education from Newark (N.J.) State College, and an honorary doctorate (D.D.) from Los Angeles Baptist College, Newhall, California. He taught public school in New Jersey prior to assuming his duties at Shepherds. He is an active member of The American Association on Mental Deficiency, The National Association for Retarded Children, and The Racine County Association for Retarded Children.
