Elwood Morden was in charge of the Sunday wor­ ship and entitled his sermon “The Third Petition”. Sunday School attendance awards were presented to the following children: 3rd pin, Neil Waugh and Andrea Penman; 4th pin, Danny Scott; 1st bar, Heidi Hayden; 3rd bar, Kenneth McGuffin; 5th bar, McRobert; 6th Margaret McGuffin. At St. Thomas Anglican Church, Rev. Mary Mills conducted the worship and as this was “Good Shepherd Day” took her sermon from John 10, describing Jesus as the Good Shepherd, caring for His sheep, and willing to die for their safety. Julie bar, UCW Regional Rally There was a very good attendance from Granton at the U.C.W. Regional Rally held in Bryanston United Church and presided over by Mrs, April Bryan, Granton, area vice-president U.C.W. Presbyterial. Following a dessert tea and a visit to the literature display, Mrs. Aida Smith welcomed the members to Bryanston and talked about the theme of the meeting “Children in the Church”. Happy Gang meet The “Happy Gang” met at the United Church on Wednesday with Mrs. James Kerr presiding and con­ ducting the business, which included a \decision to dispense with the May meeting and have a picnic at the church on June 7. Also'it was decided to donate the collection for this meeting to the Bunny Bundle Fund, Progressive euchre and crokinole were enjoyed for the rest of the afternoon. Members with birthdays in April and having their names on the cake were Etta Carson, Dorothy Pecko and Harold Talbot. Davis Hurondale Women’s Institute held their April meeting and election of of­ ficers for 1979-80 at the Crediton Hall Monday with a supper meeting catered to by Crediton W.I. President Marian Dougall opened the meeting with Ins. Ode and Mary Stewart collect. Roll call was answered by paying of fees. Mrs. Peter McNaughton, Ilderton of McNaughton Bus tours, was introduced by Lois McFalls. She outlined several two day bus tours, members could take, one be­ ing planned for June. Hurondale having recently celebrated their 60th an­ niversary, Ross Haugh of Exeter T-A was present and took several pictures of members for Tweedmuir History Book. Exchange of secret Pal gifts took place and new names were drawn for coming year. Jean Mills reported on dis­ trict board meeting, held at Hensall United Church. The district annual is to be held May 17th at Thames Road United Church hosted by Hurondale WI. Summary day for the needlepoint short course will be held May 23 at the South Huron Rec Centre in Exeter. Reports were given by all standing committee conveners and the Secretary Lois McFalls gave report of nominating committee. The meeting was highlighted with past grands taking the officers chairs. Percy Noels acted as noble grand and Bob Blair as vice grand. Other past grands taking part included Fred Delbridge, Bruce Delbridge, Garnet Hicks, Glenn Fisher, Norm Stanlake, Tom Yellow, Les Gibson, Bill Rowe, Delmar Skinner, Ben Fisher, Lloyd Hodgins, Gerald McFalls and John Morgan. Following the business Norman Alexander of Londesborough showed slides and spoke on soil ero­ sion. Monkton Lodge visited Exeter Tuesday, April 24 with three candidates to receive the first degree. Ap­ proximately forty-five brethren were in atten­ dance. A very favourable financial report was presented by Noble Grand Ray Mills, concerning our annual friendship banquet. Sunday, April 29, Cen­ tralia United Church was the scene of the annual Lodge Church service. Over 80 Oddfellows and Rebekahs paraded down Main St. to the church where they were welcomed by Pastor Paul Schott. Twenty of the Patriarch Militants members and L.A.P.M. were present and added much prestige and colour to the parade with their uniforms and drill work. Noble Grand Ray Mills invited everyone to the basement of the Church where the U.C.W. served refreshments. Times-Adypcate, May 2, 1979 UM TED Tampa, Florida. The Rev. Dr. George Tuttle Moderator of the United Church of Canada was the Guest Minister and used the theme for his sermon “Your own Ministry” saying, that there are various ways that we can minister to others, in the life of the Church, and outside to the people, who live and work with us. Former teachers and students of Medway High School are welcome to attend their 30th anniversary on Friday, May 4 starting at 7 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Harlton will be returning home from their winter home in Lakeland Florida this week. Mrs. Robert McGill of Ajax attended the 100th anniversary reunion at Central High School in London on Saturday and visited with her parents Mr. &Mrs. Elmer Summers over the weekend. Both 4-H Clubs “Converted Cooks” and Granton Grams” received honorable mention on Achievement Day held at Medway High School, Saturday, April 25. Members of the “Granton Grams” presented with second year certificates were Susan Noon, Evelyn and Maria Vanderminnen, Shannon Feidorec, and Bonnie Harloff.
