Over 70
at audition
More than 70 children
showed off their singing
ability on Saturday hoping to
land a part in “The Sound of
Music.” The big musical
production will be the last
show of the 1979 season at
Grand Bend’s Country
Playhouse.
Auditions were held at
Grand Bend Public School
and children came from as
far away as Petrolia,
Strathroy and Clinton to try
for a role as one of the Von
Trapp family singers.
Playhouse publicity
director Charla Black says
that final decisions on
casting have not yet been
made. They hope to use local
talent for the parts of the
seven children in the
musical. The children have
to be chosen carefully to suit
the age and size of the parts,
she says.
Professional actors and
actresses will be brought in
for the major roles. Other
productions this summer
will be “Pools Paradise”,
“Angel Street”, “Harvey”
and “The Owl and the Pussy
Cat”. The season opens June
27.
