For the month of May, the League is holding a clothing drive for the children in Nicaragua and also will be filling Christmas stockings for the Inuit children in the far north, to be shipped in July. Plans were made for the members attending the convention in Windsor, May 8 and 9. Again this year it was decided to present corsages to the women of the Parish on Mothers’ Day. The election of officers was conducted resulting as follows: past president - Rhea Vanderloo, president - Helen Toonders, 1st vice- president - Theresa Vanden Boomen, 2nd vice-president - Corina Reymer, Secretary - Liz Huys, Treasurer - Bernice Crunican. School Principals are to be approached as well as youth Anglican ladies plan bake sale The Ladies’ Guild of Holy Trinity Anglican Church (Lucan) met in the Parish hall, Tuesday, April 17 at 8.30 p.m, The president, Mrs. Merton Culbert, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the scripture read by Mrs. Norman Hardy. The main topic of business was making plans for the sale of home baking to be held in the Parish Hall on Saturday, May 12th, com­ mencing at 10 a.m. The church ladies are asked to have their contributions at the hall by 9.30 a.m. Several new items have been purchased for use in the church kitchen and these were on display. A tasty lunch was served by the president and Rev. Hofland closed the meeting with the benediction. The next meeting is planned for May 8, 1979 at 8:30 p.m. Seniors need help for flea market Members of the Sunshine and Busy Buddies groups held their regular weekly meeting in the club rooms on Thursday afternoon, with the president, Mary Kooy presiding for the business meeting. The president welcomed the members and the meeting opened with the singing of “0 Canada.” Florence Stanley thanked the group for her “Get Well” card. More help will be needed for the “Flea Market” on Sunday, May 6th. The names of Muriel Cobleigh, Mildred Hirtzel, Ed and Verna Dowdell were added to the list. Members are asked to, price their own articles if at all possible. Florence Hodgins an­ nounced the Holy Trinity A.C.W. sale of home baking group leaders to promote a good display both indoors and out and utilizing both floors of the masonic hall. The public is urged to keep this date open. There will be a small admission charged to cover expenses only. The North Middlesex District Annual was an­ nounced for Tuesday, May 15 in Komoka Community Centre and the president, vice-president, Lillian Radcliffe, district director Lillian Ashton and P.R.O., Iva M. Hodgins will attend, plus any others who wish to go. The month of May is to be recognized some way as Family Unity Month. “Essential Edibles” will be the theme for the 4-H Achievement Day at Med­ way High School, Saturday, May 28 at 1 p.m. All mem­ bers are invited. Walkathon for Bibles Any way you look at it, it’s a worthwhile involvement. Think of it, a beautiful walk in the country, a picnic in the park and the knowledge you are helping Eskimo peo­ ple have the Bible in an up- to-date translation. A Lucan walkathon is be­ ing held Saturday, May 26 to assist the Canadian Bible Society to complete a new translation of the Scriptures for the Canadian Eskimo at a cost of $75,000. The financial goal for the Lucan walkathon is $1,300. Sponsor sheets are available from your church or from Jim Robertson at the Post Office. Walkathon participants will leave the Lucan United Church at 9 a.m. May 26. Only one vehicle in area crashes Both accidents in­ vestigated this week by officers of the Lucan detach­ ment of the Ontario Provincial Police were of the one vehicle variety. Sunday at 5^30 p.m. a vehicle driven by Michael Deane, London left the roadway of Concession 16 in London township and rolled over. Damage was listed at $500. A vehicle driven by Gary Albert Arthur, London was damaged to the extent of $1,800 when it struck a bridge on Sideroad 25-26 in Biddulph township at Thursday.
