Horton McDougall, formerly of Hensall died at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich on Tuesday April 17th 1979 in his 84th year. Sur­ viving is his wife the former Agnes McKeller; a son Hughie McDougall, Hensall; daughters (Marjorie) Mrs. John Drake, Staffa; (Jean) Mrs. William Freele, Wind­ sor; (Dorothy) Mrs. Gordon Hess, Zurich; (Betty) Mrs. Glenn Love, Sarnia, (Mary) Mrs. Ron Rossi, Montreal. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters Mrs. Christina Souter, Seaforth, and Mrs. Richard Pfeiffer of Arizona. Funeral service were held froip, the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter Thursday April 19th at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ross Hargreaves officiating. While Jason Clark and Pat Overholt choose up sides, John Towton, Shawn Vanstone Roxanne Overholt, Colleen Overholt and Derrick Overholt look on. p|)ofo District official pays visit FLORA RAPSON Mrs. Flora Rapson merly of Hensall Summerhill passed away at Maple Grove Lodge, Goderich on Sunday April 15th in her 89th year. She was the wife of the late Orval Rapson. Surviving are daughters: Mrs. (Hazel) Murray Milton, Toronto; (Leona) Mrs. Clare McBride, Goderich, (Lois) Mrs. Donald James, Lon­ don; Son Gordon Rapson, R.R. 3, Clinton. Sisters Mrs. (Viola) Frank Whitmore, and Mrs. (Leona) Harold Whitmore both of Hamilton. Predeceased by two sisters and one brother. Also sur­ vived by six grandchildren and two grandchildren, service was held Stiles for- and Rebekahs mark 30th event great­ Funeral from the Funeral Chapel, Goderich Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Clinton Cemetery. + BE A BLOOD DONOR The members of Amber Rebekah Lodge ac­ companied by D.D.P. Kathleen Cuthill of Seaforth and a number of members of Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge, Seaforth enjoyed a banquet at Pineridge Chalet on Wednesday evening celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Amber Lodge. Following the dinner all returned to the Lodge rooms to honour Sister Kathleen Cuthill, District Deputy President of Huron District number 23 who made her annual visit. Jr. P.N.G. Maggie Campbell presented Mrs. Cuthill to the Lodge. The Noble Grand Mrs. Hazel Corbett welcomed all the visitors and the Vice­ Grand Mrs. Elizabeth Riley assisted her. The finance report was given by Bertha MacGregor’L.S.N.G. and Conductor Gladys Coleman. The Vice Grand gave the report for the visiting and the C.P.T. L.S.V.G. Olga Chipchase gave the District report held at Seaforth last week. Mrs. Pearl Eyre gave the Treasurer’s report in the absence of Dorothy Corbett. It was announced Mrs. Jean Henderson of Huronia Rebekah Lodge, Clinton would be the incoming District Deputy for Huron District number 23. An in­ vitation was received to a Dessert Euchre and Bake Sale at Huronia Lodge, Clinton May 2nd. A Dessert Euchre and Bake Sale will be held in Amber Rebekah lodge rooms May 9th. The District Church service will be held in Wesley Willis Church Clinton May 6th at 11 a.m. Sister Cuthill D.D.P. gave an outstanding address on “The Place of Women in Odd- fellowship.’’ and congratulated the Members on their anniversary. Maggie Campbell presented Sister Cuthill with a gift and also gave a few notes on the former Lodge “Kapina”. Remarks were given by Bertha MacGregor and Jeanette Baker of Seaforth. Court Whist was played with the following prize winners High Esther Campbell; low: Margaret Consitt, Lucky Cup Leona Parke. Noble Grand Hazel Corbett led in prayer and Sister Kathleen Cuthill and Maggie Campbell cut the birthday cake. Refreshments were served by the social com­ mittee Sisters Isobel Rogerson, Dorothy Parker, Evelyn MacBeath Hazel Corbett supplied for Dorothy Corbett. DONATE PICTURE A picture of India’s National bird, the Peacock, embroidered with gold and silver plated twine - a dedicated work of art - was presented to the United Church at Hensall by Mr. & Mrs. Parkash Malik. This magnificent work of art was brought by them from their home country after their last visit. When accepting the picture, Rev. Garnett Husser told the congregation that this wonderful picture is from one of the great ancient countries founded as early as 3500 B.C. That country has given birth to Lord Krishna, Lord Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi all of who were dedicated to peace. TIME CHANGE Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday speaking on the subject “A Doubter Con­ vinced” taking the text John 20 verse 29. Mrs. Dorothy Taylor presided at the organ. Next Sunday, April 29, brings the change to Daylight Saving Time and the service will be at 10:15 a.m. when Rev. A.C. Young of Goderich will be con­ ducting the service. Seniors celebrate event The Three Links Senior Citizens of Hensall celebrated their third an­ niversary on Tuesday April 17 with a pot-luck supper and a special musical programme, Nearly 60 people sat down to supper displaying their cooking talents. The musical programme was supplied by the Huron Strings, a group of 10 citizens who love the good old- fashioned “parlor” type music of pre-depression years. Fiddlers were Wilson McCartney who heads the group, Warren Whitmore, Helmer Snell and Stanley Hellen. Marie Flynn was at the piano most of the evening except when she joined the fiddlers when Mrs. McCartney presided at the piano. Hughie Hodgins played guitar and singers were Hughie Hodgins and Marie Flynn. To complete the evening Debbie Flynn and Melissa Moffatt tap danced and played a piano duet. Master of ceremonies was Bill Flynn. A total of 44 members answered the roll call. The Spring Zone 8 Rally will be held at Grand Bend Anglican Church on May 1, those going to notify the president, Mrs. Bertha McGregor. A bus trip --------------------------------- is being arranged for June 20 to either Elmira or Kit­ chener. The Mennonite faith will be the focal point at Elmira, factories, gardens and shopping in Kitchener. Anyone wishing to join for either of these trips notify either Mrs. Ruby Bell or Mrs. Hilda Payne.
