By MRS. PETER MARTIN CREDITON Wednesday evening the Sunday School rooms were decorated with spring flowers and streamers to honor bride-elect Joan Hodge. A reading was given by Linda Lippert and the address was read by Barb Wein. Joan opened her gifts and thanked everyone for the lovely presents. She then invited all those present to come and view her gifts at her parents home anytime after the wedding. A game of hot cases was played. Winners were Irene Finkbeiner and Cathy Heywood. A delightful lunch was served at the end of the shower. Persona Is Communion will be served next Sunday at Zion United Church. Rev. Miner will be conducting the service. Mrs. Ed Finkbeiner is attending the United Church Womens conference at Lambeth Monday and Tuesday. She is a delegate of Huron-Perth Presbytery. The final needlepoint class will be held Thursday at the Crediton Community Center. A summary day will take place Wednesday, May 23, at the South Huron Recreation Center. The Crediton Firemen's Association held a social evening, Saturday. After a delicious meal served by the Womenb Institute a game of progressive euchre was played. Winners were Marg O’Neil, Dennis MacDonald and Note Smith. Swans visit Shipka area By MRS. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Becker on the arrival of a baby girl to their home. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Russell spent last weekend in St. Catharines visiting her parents Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Webb and other relatives. Ed Turnbull, Oscar and Laura Miller, Hilda Rader, Annie and Hugh Morenz were guests last Monday p.m. for a social evening of euchre and solo with Lorne and Loreen Devine in Grand Bend. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Vin­ cent, Lori, Michael and Michelle visited recently with their aunt and uncle Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bacon at Fostoria, near Saginaw, Michigan. Mrs. Doreen Finkbeiner visited her aunt, Mrs. Leah Keyes, an afternoon last week on the occasion of her 92nd birthday. Mrs. Keyes enjoys fairly good health and had several visitors, cards, gifts and treats on her special day. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs.WillyCoeck on thearrival of a baby girl. The lovely white swans have been sighted, at rest periods in this area, on their migration flight to the north. Staff photo Play euchre at Saintsbury Clandeboye men in Texas, others take tour in Missouri CLANDEBOYE Wilmer Scott, Harry Hardy, Sandy Thompson and Jack Conlin were in Amarillo, Texas for a few days last Middlesex tour. Gerald Rollings, Jim Dixon and Dave Glavin from this area were among those who went on the Purina Tour to St. Louis, Missouri, the first of this week. The “Clandeboye Curves” bowling team completed the season by winning the ‘B’ championship in the Monday night ladies bowling league. Members of the-team are Aggie Groenewegen, Jean Hodgins, Florence Millson, Pat Hodgins, Debbie Glavin and Lena Rollings. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family returned Tuesday from a holiday in •UW week with the Beef Producers Lynn, Glenn Florida. Metric white sauce, Peanut Butter and Carrot Spread, Potato Cheese Chowder a’la Metric were demonstrated. The fourth and fifth meetings were held March 22 at Elaine Cunningham’s home. Tea biscuits, cheese wheels and pink velvet were demonstrated. By MRS. Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Hartle attended the funeral of his aunt Mrs. Langford Ridley held Thursday afternoon from the M. Box and Son Funeral Home, Parkhill. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Rowe visited Sunday with her niece Mrs. White, Arkona who is still a patient in Strathroy Hospital. The community extends their sympathy to Mr. & Mrs. Ambrose Koricina and family and to Mr. & Mrs. Joe Amos and family in the sudden death of their son and grandson David Koricina as a result of a motor-bike accident last Wednesday evening. The two baskets of flowers placed in the United Church Sunday were from the funeral of David Koricina which was held Saturday. Mr.&Mrs.Bill Fenton and Mr. & Mrs. Doug Fenton, Belgrave attended the funeral Saturday of David Koricina. United Church Women held their April meeting at the home of Mrs. Wilbert Lewis Wednesday evening. CARD EVENT A large turnout enjoyed a card party held at Brodhagen Thursday sponsored by the Association of Agricultural Societies for Huron and Perth Counties. Personals Heber Davis is a patient in Victoria hospital, London following surgery. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Carroll, Lisa, Julie and Ryan attended a 80th birthday family gathering for Mrs. Wayne Carrol's grandfather in Sarnia, Saturday. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Barker and Mrs. Heber Davis were Sunday dinner guests with Miss Joan Barker London. Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis were Sunday evening dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Peter Sovereign and family, Lucan. The draw for the cake was won by Kimberley Greenlee.
