Matron’s project, the Heart Fund. Vicki Bakker, and members of the “Happy Gang” were guests of the C.G.I.T. at their meeting Wednesday evening at the United Church. Shanon Fiedorec welcomed the guests, then the C.G.I.T. gave the Purpose, also the Explorers theirs, followed with the Happy Gang theme song. The object of this meeting was for the members of the Happy Gang to describe what it was like in the Growing Up Days, some very interesting stories resulted from these talks. There was also a display of some old time household items. To name a few, a washboard, old curling iron, flat irons, coffee grinder, lantern, carriage lamp, and coal oil lamp, also some babies long gowns and a granny nightdress. The girls were quite curious and asked many questions. Margaret McGuffin favored with a piano solo while tea and cookies were served by the members of the C.G.I.T. and their leaders. Mrs. Robt Harloff and her assistant Mrs. Wm Goos are to be commended on arranging such an in­ teresting evening. "Happy Gang" meet The Happy Gang met at the United Church Wed­ nesday afternoon. Mrs. Chas Gowan presided over a short business session and turned the meeting over to guest violinist, Clarence Lewis and his accompanist, Mrs. Clare Dunlop, who entertained with a number of sing-a-long songs, toe-tapping music and sacred numbers. Crokinole and six games of progressive euchre were enjoyed. Crokinole winners were the following members. Tied for high score were Mrs. E. Morden and Mrs. R. Carson, low score Mrs. H. Westman, lucky winners for the euchre were high score Mrs. J.1 Kerr, lone hands Mrs. C. Dunlop and low score Mrs. A. Crockett. Gentlemen prize winners were high score George Round, lone hands Austin Hobbs, and low score Elmer Summers. This meeting took the form of a belated St. Patrick’s party, so there was some wearing of the Green, a roll call answered by an Irish Story or the name of an Irish Song, and a lunch table with green decor. Members with birthdays in March and having their names on the cake were Olive Morden, Marjorie Morley, Mary Bowman, Olive Gowan, and Clare Dunlop. Program and lunch committee were Olive Gowan, Wreatha Burnett and Eileen Summers. Church news At the United Church Rev. Elwood Morden was in charge of the Sunday morning worship and of­ ficiated at the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The theme for Rev. Morden’s Meditation was - “Follow Me, Abide in Me, Lovest thou Me". As when Jesus called men to be His disciples such as John, James and the others, saying “Follow Me." These words have the same meaning for us today, said Rev. Morden. “Abide in Me" these words were spoken by Jesus near the end of His ministry, just before the Crucifixion, and were described by the minister as a branch of a tree which cannot bear fruit without being attached to the stem. Jesus being the stem, and we the branch, and finally these last words “Lovest thou Me" spoken by Jesus to Simon Peter after the resurrection, who answered “Yea Lord Thou knowest I do,” and may we be able truthfully as Simon Peter long ago, when we are asked them same question by our Lord, answer “Yea Lord Thou knojvest I do,” said Rev. Morden. Sunday School pupils receiving attendance awards were the following children, Mark Wright and Blair Fraser, Jonathon Chovan- cek, Stephen Nixon, and Victor Kop. Cbme see our tasteful selection. 4-H News The fifth meeting of the 4- H Club group “The con­ verted cooks" taking the. course “Essential Edibles” was held at the home of Rosemary and Linda Giessen March 26. President Shelly Egan opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge, following with the roll call, which was answered with a recipe using tea-biscuits. The record book cover was discussed. Leader Mrs. O’Shea asked for two volunteers to make recipes, these were Cathy Cocquyt and Susanne Giessen. There was further discussion on the next two meetings and it was agreed to hold them both on the same day; and a menu was planned for the brunch. The members then took part in a quiz on their meats and vegetables I.Q. Mrs. O’Shea told the girls what was used to make the Cod Italiano, while leader Mrs. St. Dennis demon­ strated how to blend un­ flavored gelatin with jelly powder, the result was a dessert named Pink Velvet. Notes were made on this in the project manual. After sampling the Cod Italiano, fruit cocktail loaf and pink velvet which everyone thought was very good, the meeting closed with the 4-H motto. Rosanne St. Dennis was Secretary and Press Reporter for this meeting. Persona Is We are happy to report that Mrs. Frank Beaucage is now home from hospital, and recuperating from surgery. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bakker and Bennie have returned home from a vacation in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Robt Garrett spent the March school break in Puerto Rico. Vickie Bakker and Brenda Tomlin joined a group of Medway High School students, on a trip to Hawaii Jor the March school break,. Miss Brenda Cook has returned home after vacationing in the Bahamas. Mr. & Mrs. Norman Hodgin, St. Marys were luncheon guests of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and family, after church Sunday morning. Mr. & Mrs. Forbes Powell Stoney Creek broke their journey from Tampa, Florida where they had spent the last three weeks and stayed overnight Wednesday with Mrs. Powell’s sister and her husband Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Summers. The Women’s Ministries group from the Exeter Pentecostal Church gathered at the home of Mrs. Mabel Jeffery for the regular meeting. Ruth McLaren presided over the meeting and the ladies sang the Hymn “Wonderful Words of Life." The pianist was Mrs. Mabel Jeffery and assisted in the song, “Work for the Night is Coming.” Mrs. Yvonne Reynolds opened the meeting in prayer. The roll call was taken and answered by a scripture verse on, “Word.” The business was tran­ sacted with the minutes and treasurer’s report given, also letters were read from Missionaries. It was decided to send gifts of money to the Missionaries children in Hornepayne. Members were informed that Penny Day at Braeside camp is July 4. There was a special by Leila Finkbeiner the Ditch Digger was the theme and Susan Cann accompanied her by singing, “My Father is Rich". A Missionary reading was given by Mrs^ Dorothy Hookey about Kirsch who is West Indies. The speaker ternoon was Mrs. Mary Blanchard whose message was on “The Words of Life."
