Church news
At the United Church Rev.
Elwood Morden was in
charge of the Sunday
morning worship and of
ficiated at the Sacrament of
Holy Communion. The
theme for Rev. Morden’s
Meditation was - “Follow
Me, Abide in Me, Lovest thou
Me". As when Jesus called
men to be His disciples such
as John, James and the
others, saying “Follow Me."
These words have the
same meaning for us today,
said Rev. Morden. “Abide in
Me" these words were
spoken by Jesus near the end
of His ministry, just before
the Crucifixion, and were
described by the minister as
a branch of a tree which
cannot bear fruit without
being attached to the stem.
Jesus being the stem, and
we the branch, and finally
these last words “Lovest
thou Me" spoken by Jesus to
Simon Peter after the
resurrection, who answered
“Yea Lord Thou knowest I
do,” and may we be able
truthfully as Simon Peter
long ago, when we are asked
them same question by our
Lord, answer “Yea Lord
Thou knojvest I do,” said
Rev. Morden.
Sunday School pupils
receiving attendance awards
were the following children,
Mark Wright and Blair
Fraser, Jonathon Chovan-
cek, Stephen Nixon, and
Victor Kop.
