RENA CALDWELL KIPPEN Kippen East Women’s Institute had the great privilege of hearing Mrs. Vera McNichol of Millbank when they met at the home of Mrs. Vern Alderdice, March 21. Mrs. McNichol is a common sense, down-to- earth lady who delights in helping people with all sorts of problems. This is not a 9 to 5 job and is without union wages but her happiness in her work is compensation enough. Mrs. Dave welcomed the guests and Beatitudes Housewife. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Moffatt and family holidayed in Phoenix, Arizona during the winter break. Mr. & Mrs. John McGregor and family visited with Mr. & Mrs. Alex McGregor in Florida over the winter break. Denning, Strathrpy and then they attended the 35th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. & Mrs. Hector McNeil at the Alvinston Community Centre, Misses Brenda Hodgert and Donna Stewart spent the winter break holiday in the Barbados. Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Lam­ port, Julie and Greg returned home on Tuesday after having been away for almost two weeks. They visited with Mr. & Mrs. John Critz in California. Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert spent the winter break holiday in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Stewart attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. & Mrs. Harry Schieck of Moorefield Misses Mary Ann Lane and Barbara Miller, Guelph spent the weekend at the latter’s home here. A large number of people from this community at­ tended the reception and dance for Mr. & Mrs. Bob Stone who were married recently. The dance was at the South Huron Rec. Centre. Congratulations to Bob and Judy. - Master Ryan Oliver of New Hamburg spent last week with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Duncan. A large number of people attended Open House for Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passmore’s 50th wedding anniversary at the Thames Road United church Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Willis Gill and Mrs. William Rowcliffe poured tea. Mrs. John Hodgins was in the kitchen assisting. The three daughters and grand­ daughters welcomed the people and passed lunch. Alvin and Rose received many beautiful gifts. Thirty- one persons sat down to a roast beef supper and all its trimmings catered .to by several neighbour ladies. Two beautiful pots of bronze mums were placed in the church on Sunday in memory of Gordon Stone who passed away one year ago March 26. Mrs. Verna Stone, Mr. & Mrs. Bud Rice and Richie and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Stone attended church, Sunday. The April thank-offering meeting will be held Monday evening April 2 at 8 p.m. when four other U.C.W. groups tertained. JUNIOR BINGO PLAYERS — The youngsters attending Wednesday's Family Night spon­ sored by the Crediton Women's Institute enjoyed game of bingo while the adult program was being carried on.
