Restocking rainbows Trout are heading this way By BILLMcNUTT When looking at the weather this past week one wouldn’t think much of fishing, but good fishing will soon be here. There were a few trout caught in the 'harbour at Goderich this week but I still haven’t heard of any caught at Bayfield. There have been runs up the Bayfield and Maitland rivers and at least two have been reported in The Clipper Unisex OPEN Tues, to Sat. 9-5 p.m. Thurs. The Ministry of Natural Resources in Owen Sound has reported that if all goes as planned they will be releasing 115,000 rainbows into the Saugeen River this year. Still on trout; there is a new Ontario wide organization. It’s called “The Ontario Steelheaders and Salmon Fishermen.” The club objectives in clude supporting the views of ' Ontario anglers and presenting them to Govern ment and keeping a pollution watch on our waters. There are several others and they also hope to conduct non-profit club fishing tournaments at various rivers through the province. Membership has been set at $12 per year and includes a large back patch. Those interested write to the OSSF, Box 115, Station D, Toronto Ontario, M6P 3J8. Those of you interested in muskie fishing will be in terested in ‘ ‘Muskie probe’ ’ a one day symposium planned for April 21 in Toronto. For further information contact Sue McDonald at 416-270- 0772. It has also been an nounced that there will be no moose hunting this year south of the French and Mattawa rivers. Deer hunters are in for a bit of good news. The 18,000 acre Meaford Military Range east of Owen Sound may be the site this year or next for a controlled and selective deer hunt. This area is heavily populated and should produce very good hunting. Thursday Ladies L. A. E. Bowerman 685 G. G R. Luther 643 T.B. J. Glavin 632 l.B. H. Daniel 603 M. N T. Rooseboom 783 O.P. G.
